Nice looking powerplant. Bet you can't wait to put rubber to the road with that. Good find. I hope things come together well for you. Good luck, Chris

I read about taking some off the edges of the piston. I might do that for now and let it go for now with stock pipe. When I can afford a better pipe I will get a new cylinder also. The polaris case is missing the carrier for the bearing that holds the big sprocket for the starter. I have a spare engine but I don't think it will come off without destruction. This is where I got one for a customer..1/3 the price other sites want for one.. www.partsforscooters.com/161-219-Starter-Gear-RaceGlenn

Well ran into a few problems. First off, the polaris engine has a "cup" shaped fitting where the thin bearing should ride for the big starter gear. It is just off my a few mm from the one on a stock jog engine. I could not get the one off the stock engine and even if I did I would have to get the one off the polaris engine. I am going to have to do some research on it. Next problem is the gears. You cant just swap gears. The stock engine one has one bearing holding the axle shaft. The polaris has the axle bearing and then another needle bearing inside the case. I would just ust the polaris gears but of course the shaft won't fit my rim. This bitch better run like a scalded ape when all is done. What a headache!

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with yout build. Is there any way one of those narrow @ss blaster wheels would work? IDK the sizes but those are the narrowest quad wheels I've seen. Any way I hope you can get it figured out. Chris

No i will have to go to the scooter shop and take the axle with me and find a rim that fits. I guess it will just be kick start

Good luck finding a wheel brother. As far as e-start a lot of folks ditch it for over range varies any way. Having the higher cc and more power is kinda worth the sacrifice. All IMO by the way. Chris

I totally agree with you but my wife will likely be riding this bike so I do not know what I'm going today I mean she can kick start it to use have a four wheeler that you had to kick start. if I had it like I wanted it the 90 would be in my other other jog and it would be a lot more high performance and then she could ride the jog I just picked up with the motor that I'm currently running in my jog. she has a 50 taotao but she is going to get ran over in a 45 mile per hour zone.

Reading some specs about the 90cc sportsman, they ate capable of pulling 700# with a rider and the quad weighs 250# that is some power for a little engine!

is your case a long or short case? i think it is identical to mine. I tihnk mine is a 2002 scrambler. I know my jog has a 10 in rim so i dont know how a 12 inch rim will fit. It will have to have a very low profile tire. Can you post a pic of your rear set up? You bike originally came with 12 inch rims? I thought you had to go to scooter shop and buy a rim? or did you buy a rimand tire that would fit the case and axle? What size is your rear tire? thanks for all replys my Polaris shaft actually fit my old 12" wheel....It does seem to have power to spare.

The short case yamaha uses a smaller axel than a shortcase clone. The long case yamaha and the short and long case clones all use the same size axel spline from what I can tell Sent from my SPH-L720 using proboards

Yea, so that means I could get another set of gears but they would have to be for the short case clone/same as polaris but it has to have a smaller spline like the yamaha short case. I don't even know if they make such a thing. I guess my best bet is to find another wheel that takes the big spline and hopefully the drum brakes fit. I wonder if a taotao wheel would fit. I prefere to use my yamaha rims as I want to keep if looking original. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. It would seem that I could buy a thicker needle bearing with smaller inside diameter for the bearing inside the case a I can use a stock yamaha short case bearing that is held in by the c clip on outside of case.
