I had mentioned maybe swapping a 90cc minarelli from an ATV into the Venus in the past. I was looking around on eBay at these engines, and unfortunately I don't think it's a good swap. It looks like the rear of the case would make it impossible to mount the wheel/tire even if you swapped out the axles. That part of the case appears to be too long and it wouldn't have any of the stuff to support a rear drum. I'm guessing the only way to use that case might be if disc brake stuff works with it. New wheel, complete brake, etc... and suddenly an inexpensive easy swap turns into an expensive hassle. If these 90s were long cases, it probably wouldn't be a big deal. They load gears a different way, so you'd probably just take off the rear transmission housing from the ATV engine and swap in your old housing and trans parts.

Looks like the best answer would be cutting off a scooter rear section and welding it to the ATV front section.

Id just machine the cases at that rate though. I was thinking it would be an easy swap. Get one off of ebay for about $200, swap gears, done. Nope.
The thought of a trike did cross my mind. Would be a neat build. Just more money and time than it's worth for me right now. I bet a little retro Venus trike would be goofy looking. lol

I think the sprocket IS mounted on a standard scoot axle shaft and the brake drum parts fit after removal of that steel mount plate.I might be wrong but I researched this a good bit before finding no long cases to be had..How much 'drum mount' does the Venus have hanging out? Edit; Here is a thread Stepvino had on this subject, has tranny photos; www.scooterinvasion.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2196&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

For some reason I was thinking the brake sat in more. Looking at the pics on PFS (too lazy to pull the wheel and exhaust to look lol), I guess not. Hmmmm. It's iffy enough to me that I don't think I'm willing to risk it right now. If I knew the drum brake stuff would all bolt up, I'd be more interested again. www.partsforscooters.com/220-52_Minarelli_1E40QMB_Engine?sc=2&category=77295

Yer a bad influence John. lol I was talking myself out of it, now I'm thinking again. The money will prob still keep me from trying for a bit... that and I have 2 scoots that don't run and the Venus actually does right now... but I'm putting this one down as a future goal. Not sure I'd want the speed gears. The whole monster wheelie machine idea intrigues me. Hmmm.

John would be dumb to trade his CPI for the Venus. I would be dumb not to, but I probably wouldn't trade either. I've got $4 in ebay bucks that expires at midnight. Do I put it toward a 90cc? lol
