I didn't plan to, but I ended up doing some repairs to the Blue ZX today. I started working on it around 10:00 No pictures but it happened.
1) Changed both of the rear running/stop bulbs. Switched them over to LEDs that came from the Amazon. 2) Since I had the panels off, I cleaned the spilled premix from around the tank filler neck and surrounding areas. 3) Cleaned the outside of the carb off best I could. 4) Replaced the broken speedometer drive cable, it quit last weekend. I had a spare used cable on hand. 5) Pulled the CVT cover, and found the plastic variator guides were worn through on one side, allowing the ramp plate to gouge the variator slide rails. The rollers were flat spotted as well, so all that stuff got replaced with more used but good parts. 6) The belt was 16.42mm so I replaced it with a used one I had that was 17.26mm. 7) The Dr. Pulley clutch has been grabbing funny, like one of the springs was real weak. I replaced the clutch with a used Artek I had on the shelf. 8) Realized the crank seal behind the variator has been leaking for quite some time. I replaced it with a new one, It took 30 min to find something I could drive the seal in with. 9) Cleaned the belt dust from the CVT cover cases and clutch bell. 10) Greased the torque driver needle bearing, then the starter bushings in the CVT cover and case. 11) Added air to the tires, they were down to around 15 lbs each.
At some point I had to go help my brother with a service call for a couple hours. It was after 5 when I finally finished with the scoot. I finally got a ride in this evening, the CVT and carb need some retuning.

5) Those variator guides are a problem. They wear very quickly. We need a better variator design.

5) Those variator guides are a problem. They wear very quickly. We need a better variator design. More variators should use large guides/bushings like the Minarelli stock or Malossi OR MultiVar. They really don't have issues too often like the tiny ones that many other small scoot varis use. Possibly better material too. You may try Polini's offering there. I have a set as recommended by others, but haven't used them in anything yet.

90GTVert I have been using those Polini guides for a while now. I have not had one to break yet, but I have had them wear a hole in the side and chew up the guide rails on 2 variators now. I put quite a few miles on the Blue ZX since I last serviced it, so its really my fault for not checking them sooner this time.

I think we need a redesign with steel pins on the ramp plate and bronze bushings in the Aluminium (for Milly). Plastic wearing on aluminium ain't worth crap.

Actually rode! For a little bit anyways while I wait for batteries for my RPM gauge so I can finish tuning. Gotta replace that seat cover. My wife has so waterproof fabric that we're going to use. Black with white polka dots. Got the scooter in a trade. 2005 Yamaha Vino Classic. 70cc Polini Sport set up. Polini everything except the belt which is Malossi.

Rode the slider for the first time in 3 1/2 months. Felt good to be back on it again. Not so good was the rumble coming from the gear box. Something's not right.

Got the Habana running again after four years of sitting unused. Brought back memories of why I used to hate working on it. Any scooter you have to take off the rear light to get to the carb is crazy! But its now back together again. Waiting on a switch panel now.
