New ignition lock and gloves box lock and all put together by torchlight on the Aprilia Habana 125. Owen collects the Lambretta tomorrow now all the details have been changed, only took DVLA about 8 weeks and in the meantime they are threatening with court action for not telling them it's off the road and not taxed when I don't have the doc reference number because they have the doc doing the change over and told me to cancel tax and then send a cheque for the new lower taxation class Informed them on their reply form obviously didn't read it or talk to the other departments involved bloody Muppets.

You can't fight stupid. Or the department of DVLA. Which pretty a equates to the same thing.

If you cleaned it up real good then brushed it on it might work to seal it up Then how long would it work I often take stuff like that apart, then re-manufacture it IF I can. Plastic materials often shrink with age. That looks like one of those 'planned obsolescence' situations. Even wire insulation shrinks with age then allows fuel or moisture leakage. I see that situation a lot in consumer products. That is one of the things that makes military equipment hard to make. Stuff that has to sit on the shelf for 40 years then get tossed and kicked around in any kind of weather from seawater wet to dry and freezing cold to desert heat in the sun, from deep undersea to vacuum, endure hard radiation, -then work flawlessly... The kind of thing that turns a supposedly simple $10 toilet seat into a $2500 toilet seat. People laugh and complain about it, but it is a real $$$$$$ problem. Think about things that go boom or move, from a single round of ammunition to a really 'big bada boom' and the people that work around them, -or make them. -rant off.

3 day riding event the last few days and ive been beating the shit out of my bike. Snapped my exhaust in half, over heated it twice from going down a huge hill and over reving. Looped 2 times wheelie-ing, but i have been having an amazing time. Chicago has the best riding scene anywhere in the USA.

I am off over the garage to mend the scooter whilst having use of the ramp while mechanic's on holiday. Wish me luck.😱🤯

Well we find the hambone bodge as known in Wales on carb. Does it count in the States as a redneck bodge? Will replace cable later after body panel removal. Exhaust is very rusty so kept the front pipe and inserted it into a GY6 stainless steel system after cutting the downpipe. So much lighter I won't suffer a hernia fitting it. More to come later.

That's a great idea milly out habana went in the same place. I think it was £400 for a genuine Aprilia one. That was years ago. Brought a full stainless GPR exhaust for £250. The standard exhaust is very heavy.

Thanks aeroxbud. I have cut the exhaust just got to heat up the muffler to bend it down and re weld one of the brackets. Finished that had tea sat on bed about 22.30 ready for bed and Owen phone's so let mechanic know I am going over garage to Syphon the Aprilia but my hose in the garage to wide to fit down filler neck to bottom, so off with the sender unit and poke it through there🤪. Owen found in the back lanes looking worse for wear after a 15 hour shift. He now has petrol and now at his eating curry.

They built those exhausts with a corrosion allowance of 1/4" so they would last longer than 90 days.
Looking good now.

Nice work Milly. Great result for the price. Didn't you fill up the bike for Owen, before you have it to him? 😉

Lol even his partner reminded him to fill it up. Apparently he put in 3 litres on a 32 miles round trip to work and back. Not sure how that's meant to last for 5 trips to work.🤣

That is the stainless steel one repurposed from its intended use and bent down after reheating it.
