Today I re-bonded my scooter clutch lining in a shop. It was too much that I have to sand some part of it yet it wont fit on my clutch bell. When it was thin enough for my bell to slide in, it was still that thick. When on stop I have to hold the brakes because it would move forward. Any bad effects on the bell? CVT? if the clutch lining size is too big?
was planning to just use it until it wear off to the point it wont move the scooter when idling on stand still..

The bell will get very hot and it puts a load on the engine at idle. The added heat will make the CVT system hotter than it already is. I would do some more sanding until the shoes clear the bell.

Put the new sidecar wheel hub thingy on today I had made instead of the trailer wheel which is now the spare.

The 4 bolt wheel is the spare for the sidecar since it will not fit on the scoot? I thought the whole point of the adapter plate was so you only had to carry one spare.

Well back on ramp and measure up the sidecar for tonneau cover for the screen and back behind seating area, time to get my sewing machine skills back into use. Never done anything like this so will have a think on what to do, but first see if anyone local sells the material I need.

Remember to factor in the wind when you make it. Maybe use an old bed sheet to cut and test a pattern.

Got my frame back from weldy mcwelderson and found out my scooter mercato order finally shipped. good day!
grabbed a thick slab of steel to use as a support for the 3 jaw claw puller, which I'm using to try and pry the front brake drum off the axle. Gonna try and get after that one tonight so I can get the fender cleaned up and what not.

This was actually my neighbor Davids LX50 that I worked on. I'm storing it for him and went to start it and it needed starting fluid to get going and wouldn't rev off idle. I pulled the carb and cleaned the jets. I should say I worked really hard on the pilot jet. It was clogged and nothing would get it open. Finally I took a jet drill bit and got it through. I couldn't see light but I could blow through it and got fluid through. I reinstalled and it wasn't happy. I opened the A/F screw up a bit and it was okay. Took it for a ride and called it done. I was now in search of the unicorn of jets, a Keihin 35S. A member on Modern Vespa spent a lot of time looking and found this explanation power-barn.com/keihin-n424-21-xxx-special-s-pilot-jet-for-oem-honda-xr650r-keihin-carburetors/. I thought great I found one, no they don't have them in 35. But armed with that Keihin part number I went to Jetsrus and found this www.jetsrus.com/a_jets_by_carburetor_type/jets_keihin_N424-21_slow_26-xxx.htm. I'll go ahead and order a few and a size or two up and see if they are indeed the mystery 35s with the smaller holes.

Today was two stroke riding day. Because of the cold and lack of windshields on my two strokes they have been neglected as far as good warm up rides so they all got a turn.
First out was the vespa ET2 for my trip for coffee. As I was getting ready to leave I looked at my ski pants and thought it's not that cold and looked for long johns and realized they had all been shown out due to age. It started up nicely on the choke. I realized I need to keep it choked a little longer because when I turned it off it went down to 900rpm and then came back up to idle. halfway to coffee I realized that the ski pants would be a good idea. Warmed my self with coffee and good conversation and headed home. This scoot is running okay pure stock, I hit an indicated 45mph on a flat and it climbed the hill on the way home with no problem. I handles pretty well with a 17 year old front tire. It could probably used a better than stock variator but that's in the future.
Then I got the Pink Scoot out and with 3 kicks it started up and idled well, not bad for a few weeks not running. It did fine once it warmed up. This little scoot runs really well and has some power for a no-name 70cc kit a 19mm carb and a stock pipe and variator. It handles like a pig. The seating position is really cramped and it's scary when I'm at top speed of pegging the speedometer. Every time I think of making it faster I realize that any faster and I'll probably kill myself. I do get looks from the ladies though. Riding a pink scooter really turns heads. I just imagine they are all saying "wow look at that hot stud on the really sexy pink scooter." After a mile my back started aching and I started shifting around to find a good position. This scooter is at the top of my list of the scooter I'll sell when it warms up.
Finally the SR50 got its turn. I let it warm up a bit and took it out. This is how a scooter should be. The larger wheels and full disc brakes, comfortable seating and good tires make all the difference. It still has a gurgle between 8000 and 8700rpm that hasn't gone away. I hope some CVT tuning will help. If it had a carb I would probably be playing with the main jet and needles but nothing I can do with the fuel injection. I wish I had started with this scoots because my fingers were numb and my fillings hurting. Back home for some coffee and heat.

You can't sell pink scoot! 😯 It's funny some scooters just don't seem to fit ergonomically. My Jog RR was the same. After 5 miles it always gave me back ache. Never had it on any other scooter. It's a shame as it was a lovely, quick scooter.
