IThe bad news is these cracks i found in the case around the main bearing . There isnt any play in the crank. The seal is good. She runs good. They could have been there since day one for all i know? I just saw them today tho . Im thinking about cleaning up the area and roughing the cracks up and epoxying or JBwelding them to try to stop them from getting worse. Anybody got any other ideas? Just a little FYI, I was in my CVT today (Kymco S9) and remembered this thread. I looked for some crack as well and found similar casting marks.

Thought i was gonna be in trouble yesterday... My wife and i decided to ride our scoots up to the school and meet up with our son. We ended up waiting across the street in the fairgrounds. Well, i got bored just sitting there and my scooter started doing wheelies again. I was standing up on the pass. pegs again riding up and down a paved area, doing pretty well IMO. 100-400 feet at a time per wheelie. I was getting a good workout in. My son shows up across the street and we start off to meet up with him... I pull one more good wheelie and head off that way with it. Right as i stood it up i looked over to my right towards the middle of the grounds and see an unmarked police car sitting facing right at me. By then im thinking "SHIT! BUSTED! Might as well make this a good one then" and i just kept on going until i ran outta road. Keep in mind the only people in eye site on the whole grounds is my wife, me, and Mr. Officer (i know his name but will never post it). Bout the time i set the front down and settle i hear his siren burp out a few notes and shut off. I look over and his car is not moving so i just wave at him and smile. "He is still sitting there" i thought, good! We went on across the road and met up with our son and went on home.. Thats my story of goodness and luck for the day, how bout yours lol.? The officer i believe to be sitting in the car has a rep around here for being pretty "cool" until you push him and or the law too far after being warned for this type of stuff. I guess i got lucky...And or the cop saw it for what it was. Simply harmless to anyone but me. And thats only if i went down. Good day!

Haha. Great story. Glad the cop was cool and just blipped the siren to say "stop that". my scooter started doing wheelies again. WHY DON'T MY SCOOTERS DO THIS!?!?!? Just once I wanna walk out in the garage and see my scooters doing circle wheelies.

I plan on doing a mild build come beginning of the year. The zuma is gonna have to bare the cold Indiana weather since it's going to be my transportation. I'm sure you know what Indiana can be during those months and I don't wanna have to deal with a stubborn scoot. I've been doing a lot of research around here and other forums. So I know what I'm getting into and just don't want to deal with that and cold weather. So I'll continue to haunt this forum until I can contribute haha.

The "ole work truck" is still running good but ive been having problems with something slipping if i went over 3/4throttle up to about 30MPH. Top speed even seems to suffer a tad and upon some hills it was holding the RPM but actually slowing down. Today i was able to take a look at the cvt and see whats up. This is what i found. Gotta be a 1000 miles or so since ive looked or cleaned in there anyhow. Its a good time. Here is what i found. Typical vari after some miles. Sliders still look good.... But wait the belt dust is slimy feeling. More than usual Rear pulley looks like its been slinging something wet Better take it apart and clean and inspect. This is not looking good, everything is slimy with oil on the outside of the pulley and inside the cvt cover. Oh no, thats not supposed to be there! Inner torque drive seal came out I cant afford to have this scoot down now so i cleaned it all up, flipped it over and glued it back in. Hope it holds for a lil while

The rough cut on it had a bigger OD. Preventing the vari from closing. It was already done when i got it.

After loosing some top-end with the same RPM,s as before. And odd slipping problems here and there ive decided to break down and rebuild my CVT. Started off with a normal clean-up and inspection. I was glad to see my seal is still holding in the rear pulley. Those pits in the pulleys dont please me though. I can get a factory replacement complete rear pulley with clutch and all for under $100. Or i can get an aftermarket one for about the same. After talking to a Kymco tech friend of mine ive decided with his strong opinion to go with a factory OEM rear pulley over whats out there in the aftermarket. He said the Naraku pulleys are no good. He has put many in Kymco scooters and they all have come back inoperative. He said the Malossi adjustable sleeve is good but need some machine work to fit proper. For now, i am going to order a seal kit for my old rear pulley and buy a new vari and torsion control. My old stock vari is pretty worn. I gotta kick out of it today when i put a straight edge on the face. It was wavy lol. You could tell were 30-35MPH was worn in. I thought about filing it true and again but im afraid that wouldnt work well in my situation. Its worn bad already, not really letting the vari close as much as it did when new. Limiting top speed. If i filed it true, i would be removing more face, making my problem worse. Thats my take anyway. My belts still good as new. Its a Bando factory replacement with around 1,000miles, so it should look new. Here is what i ordered. www.racingplanetusa.com/variator-polini-speed-control-p-312-1.html?cPath=2_20_126&sessID=3f6998a0f0122a5187784057acfe43c1www.racingplanetusa.com/half-pulley-steel-139qmbqma-p-5596-1.html?cPath=2_20_126&sessID=3f6998a0f0122a5187784057acfe43c1www.racingplanetusa.com/variator-control-shims-naraku-speedup-gy6kymco-p-21863-1.html?cPath=2_20_126&sessID=3f6998a0f0122a5187784057acfe43c1www.racingplanetusa.com/twist-control-naraku-racing-torque-spring-peugeot-piaggio-kymco-china-4stroke-p-4214-1.html?cPath=2_20_126&sessID=3f6998a0f0122a5187784057acfe43c1As well as some fresh clutch springs and some weights. Ive installed and tuned these engines with the Malossi multivar vari and wasnt very impressed compared to the OEM vari tuned. I installed and tuned the Polini Speed Control in my Aprilia DiTech and was VERY impressed with it. Although it did use the bigger 19x15 weights like the OR kits. The vari was very similar to my Malossi OR vari. Im not really expecting that for my Cobra (no room for it), but i do hope it turns out better than the Malossi one for this engine. We shall see? BTW, my Dr.P sliders are a mixed combo with over 4,000 miles and are still ok. Some normal wear, but it an even wear with no damage.
