A CHT gauge would be a good addition..A stock 50cc head has much less fin area and will run a good bit hotter than a 90cc type head..Shopping for a 90 squish style head would be a good thought also..

Good point 190. I feel like I'm already pushing my luck by using a 50cc "turbofan" instead of the 90cc fan. Do you think I would gain cooling by removing snorkel and upjetting? I'm using an 80 MJ which seems small- plug looks good though...but I think I may have gotten into the big MJ mindset because my first scoot Carb was a Mikuni that seemed to like the big jets. I ran my first scoot without cooling shrouds for about a month as the PO took them off and I simply didn't know any better (until I found Y'all!). I experienced detonation when my compression was too high, run-on when shutting ignition off, warped head, and an actual fire at a stoplight once when I packed the end of my exhaust with steel wool trying to quiet it down a bit (the PO basically cut the end of the exhaust off). Lol my first scoot. Big learning experience! The guy behind me at the stoplight basically calmly rode up beside me- "hey brother, your muffler is on fire" Can't believe I didn't notice- it was a decent sized Flame! I've tried a couple of stock airbox mods, one requiring a larger jet on the exact same setup. There was no appreciable difference in CHTs.

Sent from my XT603 using Tapatalk 2 I once set my mustang on fire from spilling oil all over the exhaust manifold. It was an 85 4cyl 4 speed POS. It burned as much oil as gas, but it never died. Luckily for me there was a guy in the parking lot next to me who whipped out a gallon of water and poured it on the manifold. Meanwhile I was like "GREASE FIRE, NO!!" But it worked. I drove it home only to have a cop bitch about the smell as he gave me a ticket for coasting at a stop sign. I would have paid good money though to be near you at the light. That would have been priceless. lol

Haha I put the fire out with a garage sale sign that was sticking in the ground at the intersection. I had one of those POS Mustangs too! It was a four cylinder hatchback and we called it "The Rustang". It had a fuel tank leak that I never fixed so it always smelled of gas. I beat the poo out of it and it never quit. I even sold it for $500 and got a call six months later that it was abandoned in someones yard and still titled to me. I got it back! Still ran good too lol. Maybe someone should market a little "scooter sized" fire extinguisher to mount under our seats haha.

Here's a video of my buddy riding my scoot for the first time since I put the 90cc in it ;P
P.S. When I tell him "It'll do 70 mph", I mean by the scoot speedo... It actually only goes 58mph GPS...

I think all he said was "this thing is scary" Ya they don't expect these things can scream as it's "just a scooter". I am only getting 7k-7200 RPM's tops- I'm curious to see what she'll do at 9k+!

BTW, I saw a vid that 2Strokd posted of him doing wheelies on a large frame scoot. It's possible! I'm pretty sure it was a 103cc Roketa Air. Shakerdriver's scoot- Correct?
