So my baby is losing her edge- no not my daughter- she's doing great! Haha- my scoot is struggling to do 55mph nowadays and the front-end-lightening take-offs are a thing of the past... I'm back to full throttle takeoffs now all the time and she doesn't haVE the oomph she used to. Now that I have the TTO temp. gauge I have been getting a little more daring with trying different things. I put the Technigas exhaust on and took her for a long ride today. I stopped a few times and put the snorkel in and out... I never got higher than 337 degrees temp. I just can't seem to get this thing to rev! It'll do 10k on the stand but won't go higher than 6500 on the road- it never even 'hit the pipe'. I'm gonna try a few things like lighter rollers etc. but I think I'm going to have to get serious and start doing some of the more advanced stuff I've learned here. I plan to cc the 49cc head that worked so well and see how much I'd have to mill off the larger 70cc head to mimick it... this really slows the flip scoot progress but I've got a bunch of ideas swirling around in my head for my scoot and I need to figure a few things out... I'm wondering if I'd be happier with a rip-roaring high end 70cc kit or stay with the 90cc and keep tuning. I've been eyeballing a Benelli X50 and considering making it (or someting like it) my new scoot... There's also a Puegeot Speedfight available in my local CL! decisions decisions! I've been soaking up a ton of info lately on carter tuning and I think I'm ready to try my hand at making a Minarelli flow... all of these decisions also affect what I'm going to do with these flip scoots- do I keep this Airsal 70cc kit? or put it on a flip scoot? Is this Technigas something I want for myself? I'm thinking no so it'll probably end up on a flip scoot too... lol sorry guys for all the random thoughts- I'm just letting them pour out! Any opinions??

I just spent a half hour perusing this entire topic and it was fun. I like how you were able to improvise to make things work like grinding the shims and putting a nut on the back side of the trans to stop that gear oil leak. Dead frogs and spiders... When I looked at the picture of the broken case and then saw the picture of the short case cover next to the engine I thought you were going to cut, er... "improvise" the rear end of the short cover off and install the front end on there so you could use the kicker but luckily you had that backup cover which you did do some cutting on. lol. I'm a big advocate for making stuff work for little to no money if you can. I also saw how you got the right size belt from scrappy at such a great price. I bought an 878 Adly OEM belt from A&J parts in Georgia for $55 shipped for a customer's scooter a couple years ago before scrappy stocked that size. Glad they do now cause that scooter still runs and I'm sure it'll need a belt soon so good to know I can get one cheap. A&J has L side cases in that odd size if you ever need to replace it. The "Lambretta" UNO 50 has that engine with 12 in. wheels. They are unfortunately out of stock on the belt covers www.kaseaparts.com/scooter-parts-c-368.html#.VHuxhcmUUXp

A screaming 70 is a blast to ride, but a 90+ has a strong low end pull and tops out at around 10,500RPM's when tuned well.. If its only getting 6500,something isnt right..Time for some troubleshooting, compression test, cylinder inspection, reeds OK?What about iggy timing, carb, airbox, fuel flow?Crankcase air leak, lots of stuff to check for such a simple engine, but I remember when you first got it running it would RIP even with a tiny stock carb!Start lookin' and keep us posted!!

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction 190mech! The one major that has changed is the head- it ripped with that modded 49cc head but it's never really done over 7k rpm's- I always attributed that to using a stock 49cc exhaust but now I've tried the Technigas with no change. It may be as simple as lightening my rollers but be sure I'll dig into her!

I don't just do flip scoots haha. Thanks for the good info too! I had no idea the UNO 50 used the same cases... I've left this largely untouched since I got the 90cc running strong but there's big changes ahead after the Holidays!

Any opinions?? Sounds a lot like what my VX was doing with the 72cc kit. Though at one point I did hit 10k at 50+mph. Odd. That thing needs Jesus though. I'm curious to see what you come up with.

Have you checked the CVT out lately for any binding or worn weights? Not sure if your using it but the electric starter clutch can bind up sometimes and slow things down.. It usually makes noise though. Just throwing a couple ideas out there. One sure way to see if its engine related is to put some lighter weights in as you said, just go real light so you can hear it hit the pipe and rev out. Even though you wont be going anywhere quick you can listen to the engine "hit" and judge just how good its coming on.

Went out for a quick ride today- decided it was too quick and headed over my buddy's house- this is what I found when I got off the scoot- Dang! Gear oil everywhere! I haven't even opened the CVT cover to look...

how much gear oil did you put in? 100 ML- that's what I shoot for at least- sometimes it's more because it's so easy to squeeze too much.
