One more thing I was gonna tell you jhobe6678 was place you're ring gaps at 120° from one another. And don't have your ring gaps directly up and down. There's more oil on the bottom of a horizontal engine making easier to get by. But it's too late for that now. You mean the piston rings? I did like 90GTVert said and just made sure they weren't in the same spot. Not sure exactly where, but they were probably around 90 degrees off. Yeah, too late for that. I'm not tearing the entire head apart now. As it is this cam is going to be a mother to get to while it's in the scoot. I'm not going to tear the whole thing out just for that.

You can't have you're ring gaps over the piston wrist pin either.

Is there a hole 180° from the A9 marking?? Like in my post that's a A9 cam Yes... That's why I figured the A9 marking was TDC because that's the only spot where there was no hole. The old cam had a hole at TDC and a marking on the other end with no hole. Son of a bitch.. HOW IS IT RUNNING!!!

Dude double check. There should be 3marking holes 2 small ones and one big one. The 2small ones line up with the top of your head and the big one should be perpendicular to those facing forward.

Got Me on that one. Did you look at the pic in my thread? Do the holes look the same?

Dude I don't play around with stuff like this. Look at the pic of the cam in my thread. I looked, that was your stock cam. I have the A9 cam I got from ScrappyDog in there. I didn't see any pics of you having that in. Here's what mine sounds like.

You can't have you're ring gaps over the piston wrist pin either. WTF? WHERE IS THIS STATED!?? Jesus fucking christ I just spend the day doing this only to take it all apart now to re-do it all again? Seriously, the ring gaps? Come on.

That sounds like two things. Exhaust leak and valves. I plan on putting my a9 back in. I just took it out trouble shooting thing it was leaving the valves open too long. You're right it is pic of a stock cam but the a9 has 3 holes. There's a pic of it in my build thread of the Cannonball.

Were you telling me you had a picture of the A9 cam installed? Now I'm flaming pissed. Why does this shit seem so simple but suddenly when you follow the instructions, there's ten other things no one mentions? And great. An exhaust leak and I have no gaskets in site. Looks like I'll be placing an order from PFS again. I can't wait to take it apart tomorrow and blow another day off, just to see what damage I've done.

Yep. That's how mine looked. So, which is TDC? No hole or little hole? How much damage should I expect when I take it apart tomorrow?

So I'm looking around and so far from what I can read, the A9 cam is not a good combo with stock valve springs. So I think I'm taking it out tomorrow and just keeping the BBK in. After inspection of the piston of course. If all is well, I'll ride it. If not, well yeah. I'll have a spare cam either way. I don't feel like doing a valve job, at least I'm hoping I don't have to.

And lookie here. Our very own 90GTVert may have answered my question some more. I had a link here but Clank said it had maleware so it's gone now. But Brent responded to a post about the A9 cam on another forum and said how it can make a lot of noise because of the whole lobe size or something. I dunno, I forgot now. *sigh* I'm hoping that's all that sound is, which means if I just throw the stock cam back in I should be fine.

It's a bigger cam it's gonna make more noise. The hole goes forward, I thought I said that. I posted a pic of the cam it looks just like the stock but with more holes
