Yes the wbb. Before upgrade I would fly down that bridge 55+ flying passed cars. Today I didn't go wot maybe about 3/4 no bogging down happened but I felt like a turtle also on idle it sounds like sporadic hiccups. on cold start the hiccup would kill the engine. Can't get a hold of mechanic till monday

It seems to me this has been a horrible experience from the very beginning. What a shame.
I never claimed to be a mechanic, and still don't, but it doesn't take a genious to put a BBK on a scoot. With all the resources of the internet all you need to do is follow directions. Watch you tube videos and see how others have done theirs. If I were paying someone to do this I would expect them to know what they are doing and expect them to be able to make it work.
I guess I'm just getting old but I still expect to get something for my money. It looks like this "mechanic" is learning while he is getting paid by his customers.

Billy It has been a aggravating journey indeed. My mechanic said my other carb was jetted b4 one time so I'm going to swap carbs and see if that changes performance at high end. Also I have never seen in any YouTube videos showing a process of lapping head valves in witch the bbk seller said was recommended fo r this bbk

what does a compression test say? I don't have a tester Yes, I notice that few do. Trying to work on a 4 stroke engine with no compression tester is sort of like throwing darts blindfolded.

I didn't need to do any valve work. It is unusual to need to do valve work when installing a BBK. My kit used the stock head but even with the kits that come with a replacement head, the valves are already in place. I think your "mechanic" may have left a valve improperly adjusted and caused the problem that required the valves to be reseated to repair. It is pretty obvious from this thread he is not overly qualified to work on a 139qmb. Have you ever heard of the term " baffled with bs"?

So my bike was given back to me yesterday it ran good. I road to Manhattan and back to bk via Wb bridge road all over bk till about 6/7pm locked it up OUTSIDE mind you the cold wheather NYC is having. So then today around 1:00pm I go outside to start it I pressed it it started up then it cut off.. hit it again she cranks and idles fines for first 45-60secs then I hear idle lowering like it'll cut off again I'll give very little gas to raise rpm for 30-60secs so she wouldn't die. Then I let go I hear idle lowering this time I didn't give gas and it died started her back up let warm for a Lil bit more and road away. She's gives a Lil back fire when u let off throttle. Any words of wizdom from you lovely folks.

Sometimes a backfire means air leak. From exhaust or somewhere else.

Backfiring is usually from a lean condition. Could be running lean due to a few issues, underjetted, air leak etc. The exhaust is the usual suspect for backfiring. Check the exhaust nuts and make sure they're tight and no signs of leakage etc. (wet fuel/oil spots, sound, feel of exhaust leaking out). I've never personally dealt with a head or base gasket leak on a 4t so I'm not exactly sure what to look for, but pretty much same as exhaust; visual wet fuel/oil spots/leak, sound of leaking, etc. Here's some info from the tech section regarding pinpointing an intake leak: 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/1889/checking-vacuum-leaks-propane

The startup ritual is normal in cold weather. I find that I either have to do a little "babysitting" when it first starts or set the idle so high that I'm not happy with it once it warms up so I prefer to watch it for a minute while it warms up. You can try fiddling with the mixture screw (note where it is now before any adjusting by counting the turns till all the way in... just snug... and writing that down somewhere). Still, nothing works for me with the auto-enrichers in freezing weather.
Popping can also happen if you have the PAIR system and a free flowing exhaust.
