WELCOME! 2k is about right for idle RPM's- maybe even a tad lower. No need to hold the throttle while you turn the Idle screw out. Give it a few seconds to "settle" after each slight change when you get close to where you want to be. Oh ya- if it has auto choke (most do) make sure the scoot is good and warmed up so the auto choke turns off and doesn't interfere with your idle tuning. May need to also adjust the a/f screw to get everything just right. Scoot on! Is this a 2 stroke or 4 stroke?? Here's a 2t carb vid from 90GTVert.

Im not sure i let idle the it starts wanting to rev up without touching throttle i messed with the screw and idle screw it still wants to rev up without touching throttle i messed with it today the guy said it was sitting for 2 months he had the gas lines messed up we fixed it and started right up im not sure if its suppose to be that high i read yhe rpms shoukd be around 1900rpms but its at 8 or 7 it revs up to 7 and when i hit throttle it goes up to 8 does the inside need to be cleaned or do i turn it counter clockwise because i turned it clockwise till i couldnt turn it and started from there should i messed with the choke screw or just get a new carb

This is a 4t scoot correct? Yes- you want to be around 2k for idle. 7 or 8k is waaayyyy too high. It should be very apparent what is happening when you screw the idle screw... Watch how the carb works when you twist the throttle- the cable pulls on the arm and opens up the butterfly. The idle screw shouldn't be turned all the way in. Turn the idle screw counter clockwise and watch what physically happens when you do- the spring loaded arm comes bach to "home position" and idle should drop more and more as you twist the screw counter-clockwise.

If i turn screw and nothing happens could the carb be messed up because i turned it counter click wise and it seemed to do nothing should i just replacecthe carb

Do you mean the needle (long bit sticking out of the bottom of the slide)? If that's bent it won't want to go into the bottom of the carb and let the slide fall to control idle. Even if straightened it could cause you performance troubles. You can get replacement needles, but for what they cost IMO you may be better off getting a whole carb. Then if there is any damage to the atomizer or anything it'll be replaced as well.

So with that pen bent its making it not idle because when i start it its noemal then it revs up then when u pull the throttle it revs higher so the pen bent it cant idle

Ok so i got it to idle down the throttle on tge carb you need to press up and its to about 3rpms so it has to do with the throttle is there anyway to tighten the throttle

I have a question if it doesnt want to start is that due to a bad sparkplug coil or battery

Check the compression. Had same problem, pain in the ass to start and would never idle. Ended up shattering my piston & cylinder!!! Check compression! If you are kick starting the scooter, you don't need power from the battery. Check to see if you have spark, take the spark plug out, put it in the boot and stock the spark end of the plug against the frame and try to start the scooter. If you don't see a spark, find the cause (ignition cool, cdi, stator) common reasons for no spark.

It gets a spark we git it to start but after a bit it doesnt want to start im hoping its just the spark plug coil because after we charge battery it starts up after a couple of times starting it just sounds like a click or the battery is dead

When i finally got the rpms around 3000 it was the throttle on the carb you have to press it up because if you dobt it keeps wanting to make it rev up i was thinking i need to adjyst the throttle by the steeribg wheel maybe its to tight and needs slack to the cable on the carb throttle

Scooter2828 let's solve this one step at a time. You never answered is this a 2 stroke or 4 stroke motor? What are the model numbers and letters stamped into the engine case?
