Hello.
No it has not yet arrived... I guess the delivery truck got a flat again.....
I will try to do the test when the cdi box finely gets here, as a side by side test.
Those damn restrictions.

Mag, you are sure you are getting full flow of fuel??? If not, that would restrict engine rpm. tom

well i've clear fuel lines, with plenty of gas in em with only a few bubbles. The carburetor bowl appears to be full when I change main jet.
I'm running straight lines none of that vacuum stuff..
Is there any thing els I can check?

Hello.
Im in a situation now, where I might need to go up in main jet. I running with a open cone filter, I've tried to cover it a little with tape, and it ran some what better.
So i tried to cover the whole filter in malossi red sponge, which made the mixture to rich and the bike lost speed.
Do you think if I went down in main jet would equal out the less air flow? Or will the filter be to restricted to supply my 72cc Bvh ?
The question really is, what will generate the most power? Cone filter with a bigger main jet? or cone filter wrapped with malossi red sponge and a smaller main jet?

scooterted turned me on to this app play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mtorres.racingtesterI would make a few runs the way it is and see what the app says then go up on the jet and remove the tape from the air filter and make a few more runs. See which one works better. So you got the CDI? Are you getting more RPMs?

Hello.
Cool app. So I've tried going up in main jet, with great results. I got a much better top speed the only thing holding me back now (I think) is the rev limiter... I keep reaching the limit, and start to feel the restriction kick in.
The top end has gotten alot better, but now it seems to be boggin down at half throttle. No problem thou, if just go wot.
The damm cdi was suppose to arrive today, I guess the ups driver also needed one, cause he seems quite unwilling to deliver mine.

I was gonna suggest the bigger main with pod filter. Can't get more power with less air and less fuel. If you're bogging in mid throttle now, adjust your needle clips. I've been tinkering with mine lately and finally got it in the right notch. Some have 3 notches, some have 5 with a little c-clip on it. The lower you put the clip, the more rich it will be at mid-throttle.

Too bad mine is fixed.. I've tried lifting the needle up with a 1mm shim. But the bike was unable to hold idle after that.

What is the status of the CDI? I'm hoping that solves it.

Well the scooter is boggin / back firing mid to 75% throttle. The top end is okay.
I have tried rising the needle with 0,5mm and it just got worse.
My BVH has a 21 intake and a 19 exhaust, do you think my stock 18mm carb is unable to supply the engine? Cause something is defintely not right here.
I just can work with this carburetor.

With a small main jet= No boggin or back firing, but the top end is bad. With a bigger main jet = Top end is okay, but the middle sucks ( boggin/backfiring)

Maybe try lowering the needle, to lean it out a bit mid-reange? The larger jet will support the high end, but you may need to cut 'the middle' a bit, and lowering the needle should make the mid a bit leaner, no? tom
