I know what you mean. Thing handles like a brick and I do not feel safe driving at speeds higher than 50 (I think I hit close to that going down hill). But I am less safe driving on the side of the road doing 20 - 30.
In this area if I can not keep up with traffic I am damned to the side of the road which is an accident waiting to happen. The side of the roads have huge grooves and insane pot holes. I am looking for more responsiveness, low and mids as well as something that can cruise 45 uphill without having to push the motor to the brink.

When i first got this, it was stock, low miles and neglected. I thought it would be cool to learn wrenching on it and have something to get around town. The fun of scooting around was cut short when I learned how bad the side of the roads were. The first thing I did was remove the luggage/rack to make it easier to bail. Since the engine mods there are more places I can get to without having to ride on the side but not all. I will google around for those motors with the bottom mounts. I am pretty sure I have looked and came up empty handed. Do you happen to have a link? Thanks.

The bottom mount 150's are hard to find. I used all my search engine powers and came up with nothing.

Sym/Lance 125/150cc engines have bottom mounts, as shown in this Lance Havana 125 oil change video . . but unknown how compatible actual installation would be in a 139QMB 50cc 4-stroke frame. So much effort and aggravation to apparently game your state statutes!

I could get a complete 150 and ride it with the tag. Stamp something on the frame with the 50cc tao tao VIN but that's no fun.
Hmmm. The more I think about it I'm liking this option. IDK I go back n forth every 10 minutes.

So much effort and aggravation to apparently game your state statutes! I already have a motorcycle license and have had one for 42 years. I just love my 49cc scoot but think it would be cool to be able to cruise at 40 mph instead of running wide open all of the time. BBKs are a strain on the crank and I need reliability. IF I ever put a 150 in my 49cc scoot, I would make sure I was totally legal as it would only cost me about $20 to register it. Bill

That and when you tell the RMV/DMV it is no longer 50cc they do not care. The just care what is listed on the title then call next. At least that was how it was at this RMV.

(Especially compared to N.J. DMV where I was born and raised and lived 30 years ago.) My van costs like $40/year for registration AND, I can do it by mail. I mail in my form and my sticker shows up 3 days later. Done! No inspection. No need to take off a day from work and deal with really rude people. The ladies here at the DMV are really very nice and, they will apologize for keeping you waiting if you have to wait like 10 minutes. Did I mention that N.J. DMV sucks? I love this state. Bill

It is not that way at the RMV/DMV here. I took 3 trips and each trip was over 2 hours.
As soon as you go in you're asked if you went online and have your documentation. If you did you go into the real line where you get a number and wait again. If you didn't, you have to wait in another line so they can inspect your documents before waiting in the real line.
The first time I went, i was waiting for over 2 hours when the system went down.
The 2nd time I had to go in the pre-check line again so the could inspect my documentation. So this is twice now I was told everything was fine. After 3 and 1/2 hours I get called. The woman tells me the Bill of Sale needs to have my name and address on it in the same handwriting as the rest of it. I pulled out the title which was signed over to me. She did not care.
The 3rd time it took 3 hours and I got the sticker.
This is something that they should have been able to accommodate online. Attach scans of docs, all good.
Such a waste of time.

I had the Naraku 52.4mm kit in the cart again along with the stroker crankshaft. www.partsforscooters.com/137-4-Naraku-Cylinder-KitJust to confirm, even though my scoot came with 69mm valves, I can use the head provided in the kit (it has 64mm valves) as long as I have rocker arms for 64mm valves? Also is there a detailed video of taking apart the motor and replacing the crank shaft and bearings? I was going to use the heatgun/freezer method. www.partsforscooters.com/169-239_Crankshaft_QMB139Do other things need to be replaced inside the case or am I good to go with the above linked parts and 64mm rockers? I know dexameth had a spreadsheet but I'm starting small and just want to get the bottom end out of the way. Man, getting excited!!
