Hi, ive been messing with this thing for a while now. I. Bought a new racing coil and CDI because i had no spark. But it still doesnt have spark. The green light on the CDI flashes as it turns over, so the pickup is sending a signal..but the plug is not sparking at all. Its also a new sparkplug. I was thinking stator..but if the CDI is getting power from the pickup then i would think its working? Any help wpuld be great! Thank you

Check the output from the exciter coil on the stator. Should be something like 50VAC or more if you disconnect the wire from the harness and just probe it from the stator with a multimeter while cranking the engine over.

Also, shouldnt i have continuity from the blue terminal of the spark coil to the wire going to the plug? Because i tested that and im not getting a tone from my tester. Which sucks cuz its a brand new coil. And while cranking i get no voltage going to the wires to the spark plug coil as well. So im assuming the stator is bad?

These r the only wires comming out of where the stator is

This thing has been the project from hell. Ive thrown and changed so many parts, followed wiring. Checked connections. Ive watched the stator check videos. But i dont get the same readings on this POS volt meter, and my fluke meter doesn't seem to be reading these lower systems right either. Its supposed to auto switch from ac to dc, but i dont get any readings.
Im about to get some wire abd build a new harness for this thing if a new stator doesnt give spark

After checking around today i noticed there isn't a single chassis ground anywhere. No ground wires in this harness are going to the chassis.
It is a kymco AGILITY 50cc. I have two that im trying to turn into one. They both have bent steering stems, at the tripple tree. The one im using isnt bent as bad, so im going to heat it up and re bend it back to position. But i want to get it runnibg first. Ive tried a few mire things. No spark. Abd im nit gettibg the same readings on either if my testers.

Check the output from the exciter coil on the stator. Should be something like 50VAC or more if you disconnect the wire from the harness and just probe it from the stator with a multimeter while cranking the engine over. From what i see, i dont have a wire for exciter coil? Theres 3 wires. One blue from the pickup, and a yellow and white comming from the stator. I get a OHM reading of 2.5 (when set to 200) on both yellow and white wires. And OHM reading if 115.5 for the pickup wire. When set to 200VAC i get a reading of 5v off the white wire and 3.5-4.6 off the yellow wire and 1.5-2.8 off the blue wire.

This light on the NEW CDI flashes when turning over and the pickup wire is hooked up

After checking around today i noticed there isn't a single chassis ground anywhere. No ground wires in this harness are going to the chassis this is common, I have no idea why tho. I've noticed most of my scooters aren't chassis grounded, except at the starter and sometimes the vario cover, but that's on Chinese bikes usually. I've had to go through my wire harness and Trace all the ground wires back to the common connection points and redo them. Sometimes the wires rot at the connection points.

Usually white and yellow will be charging and lighting wires. Other is prob pickup. In that case, I assume you have a DC CDI. That means it gets it's power from the battery, so one of the terminals on the CDI should get 12V+ DC when the key is switched on. If not, it's not getting power and can't spark. Could be that you hooked up an AC CDI to a DC system.

Guess thats the bad part about EBAY lol. It had said GY6 50 performace kit. Deffinetly dont want to continue wasting time and money on useless parts. Is there a site you recommend i can get new parts from that shipps fairly quick. Ill buy an all new set, CDI/STATOR/COIL. Cuz if thays the case then id imagine i need a specific stator as well. And when i search i see all the same 8 coil stators. I was hoping to get this thing running fairly quick, my truck crapped out on me and was going to use this for transportation for a while. Doesnt seem like that will be the case anymore. Shoulda known better, "all it needs is a little work to run" good thing i got both scooters for 50 bucks. Thank you very much for the help! Ill post pictures and info as the build goes on. Mightas well do a full build at this point. Another "naked" one. The plastics were all destroyed anywayd so goibf to do like a madmax style build. Should be cool when finished!

If you look at a DC stator, it won't have an exciter coil. Exciter coils usually stand out from the charging coils because they're often wrapped with fiberglass while the others aren't. DC CDIs are usually larger. The most common CDIs for these 139QMB engines are AC, so if you order a CDI that doesn't specify AC or DC, most likely it's AC. chinesescooterparts.com/ac-vs-dc-fired-or-pulsed-cdi-ignition-systems/
