If you end up closing the mixture screw for best idle then you need a smaller pilot jet, regardless of the setup. Could be that the larger bore is creating more vacuum and pulling more fuel at idle. That or you have some obstruction in the air passage. You can try cleaning the carb thoroughly, but I don't know that it will get you anywhere.

I had my cvt belt break a couple weeks back and I had a set of new roller weights from a bbk I ordered. They were 8g and supposedly the stock ones were 8g. But now I am seeing a lower top speed. So I have 2 questions, Would a lighter weight bring my top speed back? All I changed was the belt and the rollers. And 2, any true advantage to the sliders vs rollers? Ive heard mixed results. It does seem like at WOT my rpms are now lower, so would a lighter weight bring them back up?

If the belt is new then it's wider then the one you broke.it needs time to wear down a little then your top speed should come back up.I just got the thunder too just finished the pdi today still haven't started it yet.

I think the stock rollers that were in my thunder were 5g

8g is heavy for a stock 49cc from what I've seen. Mine were 5g stock as well.
Sliders have a big benefit in reduced wear/replacement intervals. Usually some benefit in performance, but the wear (lack of) is what keeps me wanting to use them exclusively.

I have noticed a loss in acceleration so I think I will go to lighter weights, but I am still having a problem of what seems like a clicking noise for lack of a better term from the CVT. I think it is around the variator area. It only happens between 40-45 faster or slower and it goes away and its not rpm related its speed. It sounds almost like when you overwind a wind up toy if that helps at all. Also if you think 5g was stock weight would you do 4g sliders then or stay with the 5g?

5g sliders probably. The sliders will let it rev more and they're a popular choice for an otherwise stock scoot.

I checked and did indeed have 8g stock rollers but I switched to 5g dr pulley sliders and now it seems like it will not go back to neutral and thus stalls out almost every time I stop. Is this normal? Did I do something wrong? Also it seems when I first start off it is in a "higher" gear...It struggles but once going it does accelerate faster than before... Is this normal? What did I do wrong?

Possibly Put them in wrong , the moving part of drive face isnt able to retract causing stall at stop . the diagram that comes with dr pulley sliders can be confusing imo. Time to take it apart & recheck.

What did I do wrong? How much do you weigh? This also plays a pretty big part in what gram sliders/rollers you use. I weigh around 190-195lbs. 5 gram sliders to me were too light and would cause the engine to over-rev upwards of 10k rpm which is not at all what I want to do with my BBK. I went to 8 gram rollers that came with the kit and they work pretty good, but my RPM's are limited to around 8k max and takeoff is a little slower than I want and up hills is also a little slower than I'd expect. I've ordered some 6 gram rollers to try those and if those are too light, I'll stagger the 8 gram and 6 gram rollers together to make 7 grams. Once I find what works best for my scooter and my weight and what I think I should expect, I'll order the Dr Pulley sliders of that weight. I've found out once you have your carb and engine tuned properly, you'll start to get a feel for what you need as far as CVT and Clutch goes. Here's a video from DR Pulley of how to install them properly..

Yes I double checked and it was all installed correctly, I am now running 3x7g and 3x5g rollers and it seems to work the best, but I keep breaking variator fans and it baffles me as to why.the fan side should be stationary and not move, how can they keep breaking? I also keep breaking the slide guides on the variator... have had better luck tho since I replaced the entire variator...minus the fan I cannot figure out what is going on here... It runs fine just the CVT case now gets warm. Id like to replace the fan but not every 200 miles.

And Silar I weigh 155 so I am by no means a big person, it seemed to accelerate better once i was moving but would never actually let go and back to neutral...just slow down and eventually stall at about 1 mph or so

The CVT case will get warm. That's to be expected.
