I just assumed he used the old head because the box of parts that came with the scooter included the old cylinder and a brand new aluminum head. Can I tell by looking at it if it is a 50cc or 70cc head?

Thanks for that clarification. This will be my first attempt at a tuned scoot since the bbk is on already. I'm nervous about the aluminum cylinder since I have read they can seize easier. It appears the previous owner installed the old head- any issues there?

Thanks Fox. I will have to ride to check the new plug. Old one looked oily. Maybe the oil feed needs adjustment.

Hi guys, my current project is CL deal. 2007 fact owned (and neglected) by a college kid. This scoot was covered in mud and grime. So first step- tear down and clean and begin parts and repairs. Turns out it has an Airsal cylinder installed! The carb has a 70 main, I lowered the clip one notch. Will it hurt to run without upjetting? I idled it last night for 15 mins. The pipe was only warm to the touch. Exhaust leak? There also seems to be oil dripping from the air cleaner..what might cause this? Your comments and help are appreciated!

I recall seeing a post on acid washing a pipe for rust clean up. Can anyone point me to it? I can't seem to find it! Thanks!

To be able to trace the scooter to the original owner may be key. I learned the hard way on this. I believed a b.s. story from a c.l. seller. Now I own a scooter with a "defective title". The title I ended up with does not match the Vin.

How will a dent affect the performance of a pipe? Any significant adverse effects? I'm looking at picking up a used Leo Vince ZX .

Got out to try the tire. The handling and ride is pretty good for the price. These were on the low end at motorcycle superstore.

Anyone have experience with Shinko tires? I put a rear one on my wife's scoot. I'm waiting out the weather here to test it out before I mount one on the front also.

What size tire is correct for Vento tri ton? Scrappy has 100/60/12 listed, but I think it's a 130/70/12. Any help appreciated.

I was looking over the old gas cap and discovered a hole, the replacement doesn't have one. Revelation: the replacement is for newer model years with emissions equipment. The 04 didn't have this so venting was on the cap itself. Looks like an easy fix.

Had it out tonight for a test run. No problems! I loosened the gas cap to provide some venting.. seems to have worked. This scooter doesn't have any emissions stuff on it, I don't know if it was taken off or was never on there. I'll have to find a more permanent solution to the venting.

I've took my project scooter out today and had it die a mile into my ride. It has done this before and I think I've got it narrowed down to a fuel delivery problem. I installed a new petcock and clear fuel lines to see what's happening. Every time it dies, there is little to no fuel in the line just before it goes into the carb. I have a brand new gas cap which is extremely tight. I'm wondereing if it's not venting properly. Where is the vent? What else could it be?
