Alright, now I feel like a fool. The headlight and all other lights running off of the stator are burned out. The most obvious thing came last. I think we found out along the way what caused the massive burnout. I saved myself blowing up more bulbs and maybe a battery too. I've enjoyed learning along the way. There's nothing like learning from doing. Two last questions: are the dash lights replaceable? Would the burnout also affect the gas gauge? Brent, thanks for all your help...time to put this thread to bed.

UPDATE: I made the jumpers and tested the rectifier..success! The wiring switch fixed the problem, well almost. DC voltage at the battery now shows charging. AC voltage at the switch measures 12V. Now for the tricky part: the voltage at the headlight connector. Yellow wire and light blue wire show 6.2-7 Volts AC. The dark blue and black wires nothing. Is there a bad connection? I'm assuming that the headlight needs 12 volts or close to it. Nothing from the headlight at this point. Any suggestions?

I pulled the switch apart and rechecked voltage there and at the rectifier. .4V at switch green/red wire. The rectifier measures similar AC voltage and 12 or more DC volts on two or three wires. Must not have had a good ground last time I tested. Seems the rectifier is working then? I'm wondering if the rec was swapped with a chinese replacement and theres wiring differences like you have posted in the tech section.. Thanks for your patience and help with this..49cc scoot is a godsend for people like me.

No measureable AC voltage at switch feed with engine running. The battery is static 12.4 volts with engine running..no charging.

Checked AC voltage from the stator. 14 volts from red/green and white wire, higher with revs. Whats next? The rectifier?

Turns out I had spark all along. I spent a good amount of time with the carb. Cleaned and recleaned and dialing it in. The scooter starts great. Had it out for a test run and it died coming down hill at 40+ mph. let off the gas and it died. I'm wondering if it flooded out. The enricher is on the same feed as the headlight. Could it be stuck open? Oh yeah taillight doesn't work either, brakelight does.

Tailight works. Can't check with engine running.. new problem, it won't start. I noticed a fuse inbetween the magneto and rectifier. Could that be the culprit? Any idea where it's located? Thanks Brent.

I finally have my project scooter up and running. One of the last things to fix is the headlight. All other functions on the switch cluster work. The headlight and running light (small bulb) don't work. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this would be much appreciated. Scoot is a '04 Vento Triton R4.

Ok, so it was only a kickstand. My fault for not reviewing return policy before I ordered. I'll probably give them another chance if the opportunity comes up.

As a newbie I wanted to support this site and use a sponsor. I ordered a kickstand off their site. When it arrived I was shocked at the poor quality and shape the thing was in. It looked like a used one. When compared to the picture and description, it didn't match! After reviewing the return policy, I decided it wouldn't be worth it. Live and learn. Parts For Scooters, never again..

I would take the side stand and possibly the center stand (and hardware) if it works for a Vento Triton. Let me know. Thanks!

I need to change out the ignition switch on my '04 Vento Triton. The plug is a six prong with five wires coming out of the switch. Most of the ignition sets out there have four wire/four prong set-ups. Any idea what the extra wire is for and if I can make it work with a four wire set? Any help much appreciated.

I am interested in a large frame 2 stroke. Looking at purchasing on line and could use a recommendation for a reputable dealer that ships scooters. Any names come to mind?

I replaced the plug with an iridium in a cooler range. Seems to start better and idle smoother. Thanks Skuttadawg for the tip. The oil tank was nearly empty when I got her. Filled with Amsoil Interceptor full synthetic. Seems to be running ok. Cruises easily at 40. I'll keep in mind those other items tho.. want to keep scootin' all summer.
