Mock up pieces for the engine mount. A little more "fitting" of the cross piece that goes where the engine bolts up. I just thought it was funny to see this thread go from 16,990 views this morning to currently 17,050 views in one day. There are that many lurkers coming to 49ccscoot to check out this engine. My girlfriend trips out on how many people have seen her living room rug with moped engine and parts. --- so, to the lurkers and visitors, please sign up on the forum and become a contributing member, if you like lay low, it's okay, you can still LIKE people's posts if you find the information useful. But 60+ views on page 2 of Builds. That tells me that lots of people are checking out this silly Build thread. I just ask that you sign up and share your knowledge or share your Build. I like see. Must have plenty Dio and DD50 guys looking at this thread, sign up and share what You have. I admire creativity, I am not a hater, I am an artist. Join 49ccscoot. I would love to see other people's Dio/SYM engine builds too. No shame, share what you get, I'm from hawaii, I not critical.

my Hawaiian plant medicine kahuna told us, "there is no such thing as Luck, so I will only Wish you Success."
this is the machine world. it is all logic. "if this, then this. if this, then not this. if not this, then this. etc."
Success comes when people install Cylinder Head Temp gauge and a Tachometer. until then, it is completely guess and test. with Temp and Tach, you have numbers. with a Temp sensor, it is easy to see when you are about to soft seize. it is easy to see what main jet give the best performance. it is easy to see what needle setting is best throughout the throttle range. it is easy to see what is the best pilot jet, sometimes you need to compromise on the pilot jet because most people do not realize that there can be massive off-throttle heat spikes if your pilot jet is small.
with a Tach, roller weight tuning (shift RPM) and clutch tuning (engagement RPM) is so much easier.
this is machinery, there is no Luck. there is only Success.
---i think it is a jetting issue because from what is described in the first post, it sounds like it is soft seizing because not enough fuel. ---

Do you have a rpm or temp gauge . Both would help with tuning .
...if only they knew...
temp for carb tuning.
tach for CVT tuning.
the best $100 in tuning tools you could ever have. longevity, reliability, and maintenance indicator.

i just watched your video. initially from only reading your posts, i thought it might be the 28 PWK carb. however, after watching your video, i think what you are trying to achieve is how my friend's Honda Elite was set up long ago. it was a 90cc set up, but his clutch was set super high. when he let me borrow the bike for a day, he warned me that the bike had to rev up high, and then it would "bite", so he warned me to be careful with the throttle. from what you describe, it seems to me that you are after that same style of lauch/take-off. the guy that built the bike was a tuner at Qwik Fix Cycles and he weighed 120 pounds. he had it set up so that he could wheelie it and have some speed too (hence the 90cc setup). i have read that the guys here in hawaii like to use Polini Blue springs for wheelie setups, but there are so much choices for gearing for DIO that it is easy to build a wheelie machine. after running my stage6 MKII clutch, i am thinking of switching over to a Polini 3G Evolution clutch or a Malossi Delta clutch. i was running the Stage6 clutch earlier with race springs, but i tensioned it to the last tick mark on the adjuster and it still felt like the RPM engagement was not high enough. i guess i could tension it more, but my last Stage6 clutch failed at the clutch shoe eyelet where the spring connects to the shoe. the eyelet on the one of the clutch shoes broke. the strange thing is, i just swapped out my Stage6 clutch with an NCY racing/lightened clutch with red NCY springs that i had in one of my parts bins. it actually feels better with the NCY right now. however, this is currently on a stock 49cc chinarelli with a YMS V8. so back to the topic at hand, i think you need a clutch that can engage at a higher RPM. i have a Stage6 clutch, but the way i see it, to have the Stage6 set at high RPM, you run the risk of breaking the eyelet on the clutch shoe. i do not know how my friend with the Elite had his clutch set up, but you had to rev it up high in order for the clutch to engage. and when the clutch engaged, it kicked hard and took off. knowing him, it was some honda trickery

...Bike was breaking up at extended WOT. Seems to take off fine but once running awhile at WOT it starts dropping firings and gradually gets worse the longer it’s at WOT. Pull up to a stop sign and take off again and it’s fine until it settles down nicely at 40-45mph and WOT. Then it starts to miss slightly. Is this plug, too much fuel at WOT or fuel starvation? I’m still enjoying riding ‘round but this has me kinda stumped.
from what you describe, in my experience, i think that it is Fuel Starvation if it is at WOT.
are you running a vacuum petcock or a manual fuel shut off valve?
if you are running a vacuum petcock, are you running the stock size vacuum hose?
i am asking these questions because a long time ago, i read on another forum about Fuel Starvation on long WOT pulls. it was described that at WOT, the carb/intake does not have a strong vacuum signal as opposed to throttle positions less than WOT. so i ended up putting a larger hose nipple on my intake manifold so that i could run a bigger vacuum/fuel hose to my petcock. that worked for a little while. i have found that running transparent fuel/vacuum/oil lines are very helpful in troubleshooting fueling issues. so, back to the larger vacuum hose, the set up ran well for a while. however, over time, i got that WOT fueling issues again. after long WOT runs, with loss of power, i noticed that there was Fuel in my vacuum line for the vacuum operated petcock. that led me to believe that the petcock was no good. so i got rid of the vacuum petcock and replaced it with a manual shutoff valve. a few months ago, i swapped the stock engine back into SlowPed. i ran into WOT fueling issues again. this time, it was from crud and debris in the fuel tank/lines. i could see sludge in my fuel filter, it was one of those sintered brass filter elements. me being lazy and stubborn, i kept running it. until one day, the bike ran like crap at full throttle and i got tired of it. went to the r/c hobby shop, bought some some new Tygon yellow transparent fuel hose (it is rated for gasoline and nitromethane), went to O'Really's and bought a fuel filter from the lawn mower rack, red housing with a mesh filter inside. and the problem went away. there was a time when i had a faulty fuel filter as well. the filter was allowing air to bleed into the fuel line. the beauty of transparent fuel lines and transparent fuel filters is that you can see if there is air in the line, from the tank to the carb.

are you the one that converted it from 50cc (40mm) to 70cc (47mm) bore?
...if so, did you use a hammer to persuade the wrist pin to remove it?
last question, if you are running JOG/minarelli spec bore kits (Naraku/Malossi), why are u running a bPr7hs and not just a br7hs? why are you running a "Projected" plug on a JOG/minarelli head? i did a g00gle search and i found that Genuine even calls out for a bPr7hs. i tried to search for pictures of the stock Buddy50 head but could not find any. so, my deduction is that the stock Buddy50 head uses a "Projected" plug. how ever, i do not see how you run a BPR7HS on a JOG kit head. i run Chinarelli stuff, but when i would buy my parts at Motosource, the shop owner told me only to run the BR_HS plugs and not the BPR_HS plugs, JOG's, REXY's, and Chinarelli's did not use the P plugs.
i say, try a BR8HS plug. it is a $4 part, and see if that makes a difference. the way i see it from reading your thread, your jetting is not tuned well at this point. the owner of Motosource told me to run BR8HS plugs while was tuning. he told me to switch to BR7HS plugs when i got the carb jetting in good tune, and then fine tune pilot/needle/main jet from there.

it might be a silly question, but did you install the woodruff key when you installed the flywheel/rotor?
check the continuity of the wires going to the coil. on my chinarelli (single wire coil) the signal wire was corroded on the inside but you could not tell just by looking at the wire because the insulation was still good. it took a while to troubleshoot that.

yes but i dont have 100+$ to spend on kit i will try to get it in future and i live in europe in macedonia so here 1$ = 56 denars so like 100 $ like 6k kit and got like 6k for full top bottom build. if you are handy with the Dremel or any sort of hobby tool, you can raise the roof on the exhaust port. i ported my chinese bore, and it was an animal after that. night and day difference in power. night and day difference in fuel consumption too

welcome to the nightmare of the Pod Filter.
in my experience, running a small diameter head on a larger bore is no bueno. and like you mentioned, will probably lead to detonation. you need to get a 47mm head or you need to modify your 50cc (40mm?) head because your squish area is basically fuct up because of the flat surface, the sharp 90 degree corner, and then the transition into the 50cc squish band. that area is where the heat is going to build up.
your 70cc chinese bore kit might be an "economy" replacement bore kit. the port timing on the exhaust is probably very low. if that is the case, no matter how much parts or jetting you throw at it, none of it will really make a difference because it would still be exhaust limited RPM wise.

seems like a Pilot Jet issue from the way you describe your mixture screw setting. having to back out the mixture screw a that much would indicate to me that a change in pilot jet is needed.
how much is your idle screw turned in? your carb might be set like one "octave" higher. it's not really an "octave" but that is how my brain makes sense of it. it is like your idle screw setting is on the high side and you start "chasing" after it with the mixture screw. but in the end, there is never any consistent results with the adjustments. for me, the way i stop the insanity, is to get it running and let it warm up for 5-10 minutes. once i feel that it is warmed up, i start backing out the idle screw until it is not contacting or lifting the slide. along the way, i adjust the mixture screw accordingly to keep it running. once i can get the engine settled and idling with idle screw back out for zero effect, then i start the mixture screw tuning and hunt for the highest idle rpm.
warming it up ensures that you are not fighting the enricher while you are tuning the mixture screw. seems like you already looked into the enricher, so i rule that out. you have factory air box and filter. that being such, then your stock pilot jet should be the proper jet for it to idle properly. if your 1E40QMB engine was stock and you did not remove airbox and change the exhaust, the jetting should be good from the factory. that is what leads me to believe that your carb mixture/idle setting is an "octave" too high. for me, a "bog" normally translates to lean and "sputtering" for me translates to rich. the way i see it, if your mixture setting is full-blast open, something is not right.
are you still running the stock vacuum operated fuel petcock?

like jackrides and aeroxbud mentioned, most likely it is water in the carb bowl. i have been battling an issue like that for the last several months ever since i swapped my stock chinarelli back onto my bike. where i park my bike, it gets blasted with the lawn sprinkler every morning and i guess some of the water gets into the carb from the top of the slide cover where the throttle cable tube enters the slide cover. that water makes it's way down and into the bowl. so everytime i want to take the bike for a spin to buy beer, i have to drain the carb bowl. i have yellow tygon fuel (gasoline) hoses and i attached an 8" length of hose to the bowl drain spigot, that just dangles when i am riding, i stick that hose into a clear gatorade/powerade/water bottle and open the drain screw and let it drain for about 10 seconds. and just like aeroxbud says, after letting the bottle sit for a while, the water and gas separate and you can clearly see how much water was sitting in the bottom of the fuel bowl.

Bless! Bless! i understand you pain my bruddah. Love. Love. i have a daughter and a son from my first marriage. i got shit-canned (divorced) when my daughter was 4 and my son was 2. i was young, it hit hard. i walked in the shadows, contemplating self-destruction. good thing i had solid friends that kept me from self-destruction. 2 years later, i was married to hispanic woman from Texas and had a daughter with her. she came to live in hawaii, but it seemed toxic from the get-go. people talk about domestic violence, and it is usually portrayed as the man as the aggressor. this hispanic woman would get angry and throw punches. im from Hawaii, i no care if you throw punches to the body, but when you head-hunt, that is a different story. one day she got mad and started head-hunting. told her to stop. she was like, well what are you going to do? i bruise easily, who are the cops going to believe? so in my head, i was like, OK. i took Fencing in highschool. she threw 3 punches for my head, i parried (blocked/deflected) each punch and i reposted (counter attacked) by jabbing my pointer and middle finger into her rib cage. after the third repost to the rib cage, she folded and walked away. ...so what you going the cops?...i poked you with my fingers? she took my daughter back to texas to visit her family when my daughter was 14 months old. she filed for divorce, and they never came back. so there i was, paying my first exwife 500 a month for, and $500 to my exwife in Texas. a few years go by and my ex from hawaii wants to send my daughter to an expensive private school, i talk to my ex in texas about it, and she get's mad and decides to "fight for what is fair for her daughter". then texas child support agency tells me that i owe my hispanic wife %20 of my gross and i had to pay medical insurance for my daughter and $1050 was going to be garnished from my monthly pay in accordance with texas law. ex hawaii wife finds out about that and then she decides that she needed to "get what is fair for her kids". then hawaii garnishes me $1600. so, total monthly garnishments was $2650, on the income that i pay taxes for. ...so i paid monthly subscription fees and never even got to see the magazines. my visitation rights for my hawaii kids are saturday and sunday 4pm-8pm. throughout the years, my ex would always have stuff for them to be doing and they would be busy during my appointed time by the court. instead, when i got off of work at 3pm on saturday, i would pick them up and take them to the play ground and play Chase Master (mainlanders call it "tag"). i did it so that they built up their agility and they knew how to climb poles and fences. it was for peace of mind so that i knew that my children, when they were little, would be able to scramble and run away from any adult just in case some adult tried to harm or kidnap them. these were sessions that were 2-3 hours long running around with a 4 year old son and 6 year old daughter. my texas daughter finally came to visit me at the age of 10. she is turning 15 on friday. the last time was in her presence was in 2018. my darkest days was when my youngest daughter went to texas. waking up in an empty nest, hoping that one day they might come back, but that never happened. ever so ready to self destruct but i did not want to leave an ugly scene for my family so i took up body surfing, even though i am not a good swimmer. i started going to Sandy Beach, hoping that one day the ocean would take my breath away and end the pain. this went on for months, every day, Groundhog Day. but i would always make it out of the shore break alive and then go to work on 2nd shift. every day, i would complain to my hawaiian coworker about making it out of the ocean and coming to work. finally one day he told me, "Soulee (soul brother) you need to stop thinking that. it is not your destiny to drown, you have lot's more work to do for Akua (God)." several months later he told me, "I know you miss your kids, so this is what you do, Honi (touch noses and foreheads together and breathe in the breath of life (the hawaiians call the breath of life, HA)) with your kids when you see them." i told him, "but i'm not hawaiian". he told me, "it does not matter. you know when animials come up to each other? what do they do? they smell each other. they look at each other and ask, 'you alive???. ahh, yes! You Alive!'. it's the same thing with your kids Soulee. you Honi and the first breath is this, You Alive? You Alive! the second breath that you share is this, 'Give me you Fears and Pains'. and the third and final breath Soulee is, 'I give to you Strength and Peace'." he ended by saying, "it is possible to transfer Chi, Mana (hawaiian for power), and Knowledge when you Honi with your children. i know you miss your kids. when you Honi with you kids, you share the same breath. no matter where they are in the world, you will never miss them because you always share the same breath as them." so i took the words of my Soulee to heart. from when my daughter an son from my hawaii wife was 6 and 4 i started to Honi with them whenever we met and whenever we had to depart from each other. they became Experiment #1 and Experiment #2. my children attended a private school for children of hawaiian ancestry. they are hawaiian by blood from their mother. i am not hawaiian. however, i was the only parent at that school that would Honi with my kids and my kids have no shame in it either. they look forward to it, they no care if their friends or other adults are looking. but i know it makes other parents uncomfortable and i do not care because i am not hawaiian, but my hawaiian coworker told me to Honi with my kids. it makes a lot of other hawaiian parents feel uneasy. most recently, i Honi with my son when seen him at his high school wrestling state championship, then he goes off to hang out with his freinds. then his match comes up, heavyweight division 285 pounds, and he wrestles at 240 and wins for the second year in row. when my daughter was a junior, i gave her a Honi before her Kayaking league tournament, and she came in second place. in her senior year, i gave her a Honi before her state championship in canoe paddling and her crew smoked the competition to win the girls state title. as far as discipline, long time ago when my first daughter was 1.5 years, she was in here Terrible Two's. i told my coworker about it and he told me, "you better break her soon". my daughter was naughty. i seen her mom bent my daughter over her leg and give her some spanking. but it never seemed to work. my coworker told me, get a 3 foot 1/4" dowel from the hardware store and you sting them on the bottom of their feet. it leaves no marks or bruises, but they learn Real Fast." so there came a point where my daughter did not car about getting spanked by her mother. so i used the dowel. after the 3rd time, my daughter understood "the stick". whenever she got out of hand, all i had to say was, "you need the stick?" and she would quickly say "nope" and find something else to do. buy the time she was 3, all it took was "that Look" and she knew that she should stop what she was doing and find something else to be doing, because whatever she was just doing, i did not approve of that. as the non custodial parent, i realized early on from hearing my kids complain about their mom, i learned to choose my words very carefully when i speak to my children. since my divorce from their mother, i have never yelled at or scolded my children, i have never made them do anything for me, they are not my servants, they do not owe me anything, and i have never been mad at them. when you never really know the next time you are going see you kids, you learn to choose your words wisely. i made sure to never push my kids away with my words. my mom told me never to speak out of anger because when people are angry they can say harsh and hurtful things and you cannot take those words back. i took on the role of guardian adult, child advocate, elder friend, mentor, spirit guide. i told both of them that if life ever gets to rough, and you feel like checking out, at least call me up first and we can talk story. they know that i am their biological dad, but i always treat their presence as a Gift and not a Right. to be in their presence is the Precious Moment in and of itself. me and my kids can just sit there and have silent conversations and be all good about it, just being in each others' presence i good enough for all of us. when their mom and stepdad was reigning down punishment for grades or behavior issues, i was simply having talks with them. i have always spoken to my kids as adults and i have always treated them with Respect and Dignity. that's all kids are looking for, is to be treated with respect and dignity. you know, when it all went down, it felt like the greatest curse, but now with hindsight 20/20, it turned out to be a blessing. at least as the non custodial parent, my kids have no need to lie to me. they know that i am their advocate. they know i was the one there at their championship sports events when their mother was working. they know i was the one that gave them a Honi when their grandfathers passed away to make their tears stop. ...everyone's path is different. i wish you Strength and Peace of Mind. Bless Bless my Braddah!
