A 50cc would get you around GOTG, it would be fun, twisty winding one way traffic, don't see any carbureted scooter under 250cc making it to Pikes Peak and even then it would need obvious mods. Hard part would be the run downhill with no real engine braking, stock pads and rotors would melt pretty quick I imagine ")

Everything on the first wheel brake service went like butta, until I encountered the caliper bracket bolts armed only with a 15" breaker bar and a can of WD40...

Lovely scenery peascreek . At what height are you in that area? Pike's peak is a little over 14,000 feet, the Garden is around 7000 I believe

Of course if you want curves a bit slower and safer there's always Garden of The Gods. You can rent scooters at the trading post now, 50cc vintage style, I passed, but next trip I'll prolly bring my scooter if I end up rebuilding the engine this winter.

Here's a hint, more than 30 minutes at this altitude in a plane requires supplemental oxygen

With about 1200 miles racked up since purchase, the drivers side tie rod started going south, so we took it to the shop and had them go through the front end while we were in CO, news tie rods, idler arm and alignment. Picking up brake parts tomorrow, new rotors and pads all around, shopping tires too, currently has LT265/75/16, should have LT245/75/16, I don't know that difference really affects much other than the speedo being off a couple miles.

Drove to Ames for supper tonight, in the 450, 3 times we had people think they were going to be smart and cut us off, 3 times that 4.7 put us back in our seats in an incredibly "I ain't your grandpa" manner... we are currently re-evaluating plans to sell it and selling her Renegade instead... the Camaro SS especially put a big ol grin on my face, kid did not expect what happened at all...

My engine isn't a clone, they only used it in the S250, all the other LC 250ccs won't bolt up unfortunately or I could pick up a new engine fairly cheaply compared to what a Kymco top end will run me.
Might be a moot point, my back and shoulder don't seem to like riding much lately.

Took a short ride of 10 miles, first I've ridden all month with all that's happened, it was disappointing, performance is down significantly, can't hit 70 on flat ground on a calm day, checked compression, 120psi so at the very least the valves are out of whack, but with 14K plus miles, it's just a tired carbureted engine. Hitting anywhere near 70 is a good ride on a scoot in my book. My 139qmb chinese 50cc engine has somewhere between 15-20k miles on it and it runs at just about the same derestricted top speed of 38-39mph as always. I have heard many people say these engines don't last a very long time, and many knocking on Chinese products even though a version of just about everything is made there. I have also seen and heard of many of these types of 4 strokes 139qmb and gy6 going 50k miles and up with original cylinder, piston and heads. I like the Chinese scoots just fine, although I like the main engines for longevity way more than I trust the plastics or many of the other parts to last. Is your engine 2 stroke to be tired at 14k miles? I definitley bet your valves are out of whack if never adjusted at 14k. I found my exhaust close to ok but my intake valve had about zero room for any of the feeler gauges to fit @ TDC. I bought my scoot used with around 5k miles or so and put on maybe 7k before checking. it definitley helped with starting and gave it smoother performance I think but I didn't notice a top speed change. It's a 4 stroke 250cc Kymco, not a 50cc generic scooter

actually we distribute LP fairly well in America, so hydrogen wouldn't be all that hard, especially when it could be produced locally in a lot of cases, might be something to look at regionally, but discounting anything at this point is a good way to make sure the oil boys stay fat with cash.
