Key west only has one headlight bulb in the front with "2" filaments low/high,low is on all the time!!!

Removed rear bulb, only one filament tested for resistance. so the bulb actually is blown.
Attempted to get to the position lamp, but accidentally pulled out the high beam and tested that with the battery in a dark garage... ouch lol
I'll go at it another day.
I'm thinking the low voltage from the 4 pole stator in 8 pole rotor caused them to blow? Is that possible to blow a bulb from low voltage?
Or maybe the frequency of the AC voltage wasn't correct because of the 4 pole in 8 pole setup?
from what I understand the regulator can't regulated low voltage to 12v, but just gets rid of excess voltage, right?

Ok got the other bulb out, leads are too small to test for resistance but I can clearly see this one is burnt out. I think the regulator is working, right? I went for a ride for like an hour yesterday and the license plate lights still work and the headlight was working and both ran off the stator. I think the damage was from the 4 pole stator in 8 pole rotor. Thoughts?

The only way to know would be put the 8 pole back on and hook a voltmeter to the bulb socket and see what happens..Also,no,low voltage will not blow a bulb,it'll just burn dim..

I know it wasn't powerful enough to even turn on the lights before so it couldn't have been over volting it. Could the frequency of the AC voltage been so rapid or off kilter that the bulbs couldn't handle it? What would you guys do? oh and Jwhood, what are you going to do for your LC build given that the 4 pole doesn't work in the 8 pole rotor. I was going to give my 4 pole stator to 190mech because his stator is the faulty one (stills works for now though). the 8 pole from TGB is $99 shipped but takes 2-3 months, however you can DHL it in 2 weeks for $140 but I don't think its worth it imo. EDIT: pulled out rectifier and where its supposed to measure 5-100kohms its measuring 1330 kohms. Not sure if I trust this service manual though... Also by that logic 190mech, my regulator must be broken if the bulbs can only blow by excessive voltage? I suppose before I put the bulbs in I will use my multimeter and see what voltage the sockets are getting. what's the MAX im looking for here?

The choke is connected to the stator power, would the choke be possibly damaged by high voltage?
Noticed my idle was really rich almost like choke never went off also top speed isn't the same so might be related to that.

I think I'm gonna just get the entire stator and flywheel for a italjet formula 50,cause the malossi crank was meant for that bike,so with doing that I can get rid of shim and all should work fine!! Those 4 pole stator and flywheels are a dime a dozen in Europe/ Germany so I'll most likely find a complete Assembly on "the bay" some time in the near future!!!

I see complete assemblies all the time for like $100 should be no sweat. Can't wait to see that LC build.

Been so swamped at work been working 6 days a week 12 hrs a day just don't have time right now, plus I have that 90cc engine that's going in something just haven't found a small frame scoot with title, just missed a jog 50 for a $100 a few weeks ago I guy beat me too the guys house was pretty salty about that situation!!!

Got light bulbs in. It looks like it's going to rain all day though so probably won't get it started today.

Ok it finally brightened up a little and I put everything back together. (sans the gasket for the rear lamp cluster, couldn't get that in)
Started it up and even at 6000 (when it gets shaky on the stand) the voltage only reached like 12v so there was no way to test if the regulator was working.
connected up the bulbs and went for a ride, checked before and after and the bulbs work. will keep an eye on them.
Anyways, I took a video of the ride. I put the handlebar mount on the rear peg and plopped the camera on there. It's uploading to youtube I will update when it finishes.
warning: the sound is dreadful. no wind noise, but I should go with the open back one for better sound and also since the rear peg is so closely connected to the rear frame, the waterproof case vibrates from time to time and you can hear it.

youtu.be/8uxX--lXIUAHere it is. Had to save it again as a wmv to save space and make it upload quicker, so quality isn't the same as when it came out of the camera. I have a new mount on top of the brake caliper box and I put the back with the holes on it so I will test that one out here in a bit at night to show you guys how it performs like that.

Here is the night time one. Better audio, but it's still too shaky to mount the cam directly on the scooter. I changed the mount to my helmet so we'll see tommorow how that goes.
I'm still trying to get the rendering settings down so for now here's just a small bit of the video: a yellow corvette cutting in front of me doing like 45mph.
It's tough to see because the fisheye lens makes him look really far away but I assure you it wasn't. You can tell by the noise of the engine as I hit the brakes that I had to act pretty quickly.
