Man I feel like an idiot installing the head the wrong way. Thinking about it, there is NO WAY that air can get through the fins. It barely provided any cooling. I'm amazed it lasted as long as it did. Look, the air would just hit a brick wall. there's no where for it to go around. I can't believe it didn't meltdown earlier.

To be honest- I've re-used cylinders that were way worse! I even installed a nickasil aluminum cylinder (Airsal) that had a big ol' chip out of the nickasil into- I think it was the bugeye Zuma flip- and it ran great. Still running great as far as I know... The chip was below the exhaust port though and didn't seem to affect compression much. I'd clean that cylinder with the oven cleaner like mentioned (I used muriatic acid to remove the smear of aluminum left behind from the piston- same as oven cleaner but much harsher- and faster! I could literally watch it bubble the aluminum smear away and it didn't react with the nickasil at all). I'd clean the cylinder up and throw a $30 Hoca piston in there from PFS and keep on scootin! But hey that's just me haha. Be sure to get the correct piston for your cylinder- they come in 47mm or 47.5mm....

It's a Stage 6 Sport Pro, and they have 3 different versions each with different tolerances, my piston is the C version. the morini one from partsforscooters is $20 but it's hoca and has a domed piston where the stage6 one is flat. Will a domed piston work in place of a flat piston?

That is the kit I have and I get that tapping sound from the bbk from alieexpress ,its good quality but I just could not figure out where the tapping sound is coming from!!

Another member had a similar issue and found that the needle bearing he used wasn't quite wide enough so it was sliding sideways on the piston pin between the saddles and making a tapping noise... just an idea for ya!

I'm sure the cylinder head could be easily modified if the dome presents a problem- but will it plug-n-play? IDK

IDK What about the cylinder wall clearance? this piston says 46.965 printed on it. I think it's specific to the cylinder, which is why there are 3 differen versions for the stage6 sport pro (A,B,C) Also for better understanding am I correct in saying that most of the heat generated is at the cylinder head? and there is a bit of blowby on the piston near where the ring gap is. Is this normal for a single ring piston? Is this why there are two ring pistons which have the gap's in different places, to catch blowby?

The A B C pistons are usually for the different motors... Piaggio, Morini, and Minarelli.

SIP uses A B C for the different motors.

I've been wanting to freshen up my MKII race top end and have been talking with Scootertuning.ca about the different options but have yet to get a clear answer. They suggest the A piston but haven't responded as to what the differences are. I didn't measure my original piston so I'm kinda lost.

They offer all 3 for my Mina clone.

Those pistons are sized in .02mm incriments(.0008") so they can be used to get exact piston to bore fitment. They are also good for getting more life out of a slightly worn bore.Bore must be precisely measured to get desired results..A looser fit is a safer way to run than a too tight one..
With this build,I'd say purchase a whole new kit. That way all these variables go to nothing..
Also, yes a flat top piston will have a different head profile which would need to be remachined for a domed piston.Thats a crappy combustion chamber design anyway!
