Didn't take me but a few hours after selling the SMC scoot to hit the phone and scrounge up another flip! This time I've found another Tiawanese scooter yay! The Her-Chee Adly Phoenix 50. AKA Adly Panther-50. I immediately recognized the CVT cover on this one to be an Adly Minarelli just like the 90cc in my scooter. Another dead giveaway is the longcase/shortcase Adly combo. An engine that uses the shortcase gears, but long enough to fit a 12" tire. This is the first flip scoot I've bought that actually runs! It has some problems though- at least that's what I let the seller think When I was looking at the scoot, the seller fired it right up and as I hopped on it to go for a ride...Phuuuhhh... it simply stalled out when I gave it throttle. Fired right back up and idled nicely, then...Phuuuhhh... same thing. The seller seemed embarrassed and I was quite happy at this fortunate accident; it let me negotiate the price down. It seems to me like a simple float level issue, but we shall see.... Since this is the first running flip scoot I've purchased, it was also the most expensive one to date. $300! Whoa big spender haha. My initial impressions are that's it's very nicely built; resembles the SMC in many ways. Her-Chee Adly Taiwanese name plate right in front so that's nice. I see some scuffs and dings in the paint job that will need to be addressed if I want a quick sale and top-dollar. The crazy looking front end hasn't quite grown on me yet, and I'm especially unsure if I like the retro-like analog gauges up front. Oh well- at least I won't get so attached! Hoping for a very quick turn and burn here. Gonna try and beat my record of 8 days- hopefully by far. Should go for $500-$550 quickly all cleaned up and tuned in. As always.... We Shall See!

Wow that is kinda fugly up front. Lol. You'll do well on it. Good luck!

If they didn't put the lumps in the front I don't think it would look bad. That looks like one of the largest cargo racks I've seen on a scoot.
Definitely check that the main jet is clear when you get into the carb. I had the exact same thing from a clogged main jet before or sometimes they will go as fast as you can get with maybe 1/8- throttle... 5MPH?

Reminds me of the 3 boob alien from Total Recall.
I'd totally buy that though!

Haha there's a 3 boobed lady on American Horror Story "Freakshow" too. I love that Adly is claiming 52mph top speed(!) de-restricted in their ad. In some other research I was doing, it described the exhaust on the Panther to be 'performance chamber'. Hmmm...

Kinda difficult to decipher what's going on with the fuel supply with the pic, but looks as if someone has bypassed the valve and run the fuel directly from the tank to the carb! Float needle must be sealing well or I'd have a huge puddle of gasoline on the garage floor...

Is the vacuum still connected to the carb/intake still?

Is the vacuum still connected to the carb/intake still? The vacuum petcock is just hanging there ziptied in. The vac line runs to it from the carb and the vent from the top of the tank is attached to it too, but that's it.lol. They just bypassed it and ran the fuel line straight from tank to carb- no vacuum needed! If there was a manual shutoff in-line, then it's be fine, but I'm re-routing everything the way it's supposed to be...

Holy black spark plug! Got the fuel system re-routed and she fires right up and idles and drives no prob. Nothing wrong with the vac petcock so I'm not sure why they bypassed? Took the fugly duckling for a ride and she needs some tuning. Not much power for what's supposed to be an Adly powerhouse scooter. Seems a little rich- I haven't cracked the carb open yet- so I took the snorkel out and she revs better, but still not quite up to snuff. I'm thinking there might be an exhaust leak too- but why such a black spark plu then??? I love these scooter mysteries. Some might dread all this scoot work but I really enjoy bringing an old fugly duck back to life!

A little rich. Lol. The fugly duck looks like someone hit the brakes to hard and their knees went through the leg shield.

Ya the cargo rack is huuge! haha I'm thinking of spraying it silver along with a few pieces up front to try and make this duckling a little more like a swan... I had someone email me wondering if I had the SMC scoot still...I sent them a pic of the Taiwanese fugly duckling and said I'd be selling it soon. They seemed interested so maybe I already have a buyer lined up? Hmmm... interesting!

Wow, amazing it worked. And yeah that's rich! I need to pull the plug on mine and start doing the plug test. I have 3 plugs for it, 2 used (both new, just different temps) and one I haven't used yet. I think I'm going to get iridiums though for both scoots.
Dude. I friggin envy you. You're giving me an idea to start flipping these things myself. I just dont' have the capital for purchasing just yet.
