Make sure you have a good charge on the battery. since its a dc cdi

Some weren't restricted some you couldn't De restrict. Put it on center stand and see if it will rev up clean with a light or no load. If you have a tach you can tell cause the tach will go crazy bouncing around when you hit the limiter

The carb tune actually feels really good- also the P.O. said he was getting 50mph... I'm breaking up at 40... I'll try a few things like spark plug swap, coil swap etc....

Niz if you are getting 40 on stock speedo with 13.54 gears i doubt the cdi is restricted. When u got mine all stock it started breaking up at 10 on the speedo and crawled to about 30. With the wire cut it runs to 40 or so on the Guage and runs out of power. On a downhill I've seen 50 on speedo. What you got for rollers in it? Does it have metal reeds?

I think you have plenty of squish. I see recommendations of .6 - .8mm for 70cc aluminum cylinders. The po was a big guy and if your running the same cvt setup that maybe an issue. If you have jets I'd try tuning the carb w/o the snorkel.

I think Sitticuss may be onto something with the DC CDI as the battery that was in it was weak and I swapped in the battery from the parts Noble which was even worse- doesn't even hold a charge...

Someone probably cut the limiter wire off flush with the epoxy. Wouldn't think they would have put those parts on with the restriction in place would never get on the pipe and be impossible to tune

I've been told an Eton will run with a dead battery but I've never been able to prove it and mine is stock

There's no limiter wire to be found. I had it off and in my hand. It's like a brick lol.

I would get the rear wheel off the ground and rev it up at light throttle and see if it spins up good without breaking up. Mine in Stock trim would break up begot the td would shift with stock rollers. 25 to 30 on the Guage is all it would crawl up to lol. Cutting that wire made a whole new bike out of it. Unless someone put better gears in it i doubt it is restricted Sent from my SPH-L720 using proboards

Ugh- wasted most of a perfectly beautiful tuning day on shopping and Dr. trips!
I'm trying to systematically eliminate the high RPM "breaking up" issue and here's what I've done so far...
New Spark plug- No change Swapped my big good working battery out of the Air50- No Change.
My instincts were telling me that this is an electrical issue but I'm onto carb tuning now...
Actually I'll make a quick vid and upload it to see if I can take advantage of the best tuning resource I have- Y'all! Stand by....

I think I may have figured it out while making this vid. I'm thinking it may be the carb bowl not filling with fuel fast enough. I did have to clean this petcock out quite a bit just to get it to work.... While riding last night the "cutting out" felt more electrical in nature. Today it's more of a pronounced- or longer/more obvious cutting out. Got a manual shutoff and new fuel filter...
EDIT: When I'm revving it on the stand I have the throttle held wide open- it's cutting out on it's own...
