I would take the Jog myself as I'm already familiar with it.

I'm hoping the new piston and rings get here today so I can get this show back on the road. Christmas vacation is over and there's good scooter deals to be had out there! Sounds wacky but idk if I could make this up; I was trying to call my buddy Chris the other day and somehow my phone brought up a different number. Some guy answers and says yes he's Chris but I know it's not his voice. He asks me if I'm the guy selling the blue scooter and and I tell him I was but that ones sold... after a strange short conversation he tells me to give him a call when I have another scooter to sell!?? So weird! Well, now today the bugeye + prebug buyer texts me and says his buddy wants to buy a scooter now since his both are running so good and to give him a call asap when I have one ready! Lol crazy. So I'm going to try to pull a rabbit out of a hat and have one ready to sell but not necessarily this pre-bug since it has a few issues to be ironed out yet... If I can pull together the deal I'm thinking of y'all might just think I'm a fricken genius haha. I so hope I can pull the next flip off the way I want to- it might just blow some minds

Fuuuudddge. I ordered the wrong dang piston. It's rare that I order the wrong part but somehow I didn't double check and ordered a 47mm piston when I actually needed a 47.6mm. Ooops! Well I'm going to take the best ring I have and re-try this single ring piston in hopes of having enough compression to at least get this little girl running. Kinda crazy I feel like I can have the whole engine out, piston swapped and engine back in in about an hour so I guess I'm not too upset. I may actually try to fit another flip in between this one anyways- if I can pull it off and refresh my scoot flip $$ envelope without selling this pre-bug I'll keep it. If not- well that's how the cookie crumbles but I really don't think this will be my last opportunity for keeper- by far

Here's the Athena vertical cylinder that I'm trying to salvage with it's big ugly scar that's presumably from the fact that whomever previously installed it didn't use any circlips! My buddy thinks I should just buy a new BBK for it, but I still have some slight hope that it's salvageable. ATM I only have single ring "race" pistons and my best ring is .011 gap. I'm getting about 100 psi compression. I'm hoping that I can get away with using the same trick I did with the Airsal BBK from the Eton Beamer and use a dual ring piston with new rings. This scar is deeper than those were but the Airsal also had a 'chunk' missing from the nicasil but it was below the exhaust port. 90% of this scar is also below the exhaust port so I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best! If I can't get it to work the negatives will be two-fold: one, I'll have to shell out $150 or more for a new BBK and Two; I'll have to admit to my best friend since fifth grade that he was right! lol.

Wow that's ugly. Does it eat into the port also?

Wow that's ugly. Does it eat into the port also? Yeah it mushroomed into the transfer port a bit but I straightened it up best I could with a tiny file. Any bets as to whether I can get it to run or not? hehe.

I can't remember the last time I've actually used a base gasket since I discovered my favoritest chemical; Permatex Grey MotoSeal1. I use this stuff everywhere- base gasket, exhaust manifold, engine cases etc. and since I ran out of Copper Spray the last time I decided to try it as a head gasket also. My 90cc is holding up great with no head gasket- Motoseal only. I love this $h!t! Any more I almost always go with no base gasket and no head gasket for best squish and compression. I've basically eliminated copper spray altogether from my arsenal with is just fine by me; One less expensive (and messy) chemical to buy! I apply it with a little paintbrush I stole from my daughter and one tube goes a long way. I really need to get a hold of Permatex for my sales commission lol.

I got a tube based on your recommendations, I haven't used it yet but it looks a lot like the Threebond 1184. I like that stuff, but it is a chore to apply and clean up after you disassemble. It seals like hell though!

I've never used Threebond but this stuff comes off pretty easy with Acetone or paint thinner or whatever. I typically use a steel wool pad dipped in acetone... Never needed a scraper or razor blade or anything. I'm not really one to endorse products but I really feel like I can't live without it now lol.

I forgot to mention that I found and removed the restriction from this Leo Vince GP exhaust. (Probably why the P.O. said he was always waiting for his wife to catch up on this scoot It came out relatively easily with my cheapy $40 Harbor Freight grinder with hand attachment but later on I was grinding on something else and the cutter tip got twisted in my shirt and it snapped the cable end off where it attaches to the grinder motor! I've got a lot of use out of this thing- it really did much more than I ever expected for a $40 tool, but the hand attachment always seemed like the weak/cheap point. I haven't looked into it much since I broke it but I'm considering either trying to shorten the outer plactic sleeve and attempting to repair it or possibly seeing if I can get a better quality handheld to mate up to the motor somehow... I guess I should be happy that the cable snapped when it twisted in my shirt instead of some other ugly outcome!

Niz,
It's on my buy list next time I get to the parts store. I have lots to do to my Taotao. The crankshaft seal is leaking like Brent has had problems with.
