I just got my hands on a 2006 Ruckus with a bad motor. I have a couple Eton Beemers in here for parts and Im thinking about doing a 2 stroke conversion. The twist is I plan on leaving it stock looking as possible but with enough power to cruise at 50.
I have been looking at the Polini 70cc Sport Kit, Exhaust, performance intake, reeds, jetted stock carburetor. I know there are a few 2 stroke guys on this forum. If you were building this what would you use? Stay as close to a daily as possible while making good power.
Ill have some pictures up soon.

This should be a cool project. I like Rucks, and of course they are better with 2 strokes.
I know 2strokd uses the Polini Sport kit with great results. I think that's a good choice. The Malossi Sport kit is supposed to be similar, but with a little less torque and about 800RPM higher revs. I'm thinking you'll wanna choose a Stage 6, Polini, Leo Vince, or other quiet exhaust since they will attract less attention with their lower sound levels and more stock-like appearance. I've used Malossi reeds and reeds from Autotech355. I'd suggest getting something nice like Malossi, Stage6, etc... The Autotech type of cheaper reeds are alright, but you can really tell a difference in quality with the higher end stuff. Some of the aftermarket reed cages include stuffers that can improve throttle response if you ever go with a big carb. You don't need a stuffer for the stock carb, but if you find 2 kits you like and one includes a stuffer it's not a bad thing to have just incase.

I was thinking the polini sport kit, and wasent sure about the quite exhausts. Dude said he was unhappy with the performance gains. I know I could make power with the Stage 6 Pro exhaust, but your right I would like to keep it quiet.
What kind of jetting are you using? I used a 95 on a air filter / pipe setup on the last two zumas in the shop. Worked good, thought about a 115 and premix.

I'm using a 100 with a 24mm carb on my 100cc. I used the stock jetting on my 70cc with the stock carb and the stock airbox. Which you need to keep if you want it quiet, or maybe try the Motoforce airbox. At any rate, if you look at my posts whenever I tune my scoot I change main jets around until I get the highest MPH. Hook up a tach if possible when tuning, it's helpful as well. Plug and play is fine if you want good performance. If you want the best performance you need to tune it rather than just installing a jet that seems like it should work. I know some folks have had great luck with just buying the same jet everyone else uses, not me. Here's a recent example of the way I like to tune, although I was mainly messing with rollers... 49ccscoot.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=2perform&action=display&thread=96Here's some info about 2strokd's jetting with his Polini sport... 49ccscoot.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=builds&action=display&thread=45&page=4I'd definitely premix. Reduce drag and know that oil is present.

Cool project . I agree with Brent...From what i have read a scooter attack it you can get some power out of the street quiet pipes with a stock look. Maybe it felt slower to dude because it wasnt making as much noise Ive caught myself leaning towards the sound thinking "power" in the past. Polini,s sport kit rocks on low-end but 800 more rpm would be nice, mine flattens out about 9,000rpm. It pulls higher just outta torque. Im hoping some port work will get me the extra rpm and a bit more power on the higher rrr,s. Im going to hold off until i get a bigger carb though, see what that does first. You could leave the stock airbox on with some mods to it and a high flow filter in it. Im sure you know how noisy these intakes, carbs get. Almost sounds like another pipe on the other side on mine . Autotechs reeds and cage are a good start over stock, much bigger ports, but i would also recommend a good name brand you trust like Brent did with a stuffer so you have one more tuning option

I cant get over how sensitive mine is to jetting. Another reason i want a better carb, you can see in the link Brent left on Skeedr i went from a 80 to about 100 main just from a filter swap . Mines always been finicky with main jetting .

Very nice. So is there a conversion kit made for Rucks or have you gotta make your own brackets and such?

Very nice. So is there a conversion kit made for Rucks or have you gotta make your own brackets and such? No conversion kit available. They do make weld on brackets but my friend Roy who did my drag scooter stretch frame mount will be on the task of mounting this up. My friend Alrunto (Al) lives just north of me and has some sick rucks so I plan on hitting him up when it comes to wiring. Nervous / excited / worried

From my measurements it looks like all I have to do is trim down the minarelli motor mount bar and center it up and she should bolt right on. The mini is only about a inch shorter than the ruck motor so it should look pretty close to stock. The only thing is I have to move the carburetor so it mounts toward the back of the engine. Luckly I have a rear facing intake from another motor. I want it to look just like this but with front disk brakes and the motor swap. I will be upgrading the bars, transmission, and other odds and ends as they pop up. Here is the exhaust I ordered anyone used this yet? If this works the TR guys are gonna pissed. Stupid super stretch scooters cant turn for shit. ;D

Looks like the motor might go in easier than thought. You have another of those rear facing intakes, or know were i can get one like that?
