I noticed that I do have some fading on my front panel on my scoot...it is black. Just for the heck of it, since I see the word wax being used in some of these products, I am going to try some old fashioned shoe polish to see what happens. You know, the KIWI brand in the little tin. It has wax, black stuff and some other chemicals. (It is flammable) Hey, never know until you try right?
IF it works, I will let you know.

Today I got Wakos Super Hard. From what I could read it contains: Isopropyl alcohol and Methanol It smells strong and is not recommended to use indoors. This all kinda reminds me of Wipe New ...anyways, I am looking forward to tomorrows Scooter washing, waxing and plastic parts coating. I will post before and after images asap.

Well OK! I just tried a bit of the shoe polish (KIWI) on my front panel and it works great! I was wiping it on and was only going to do half to show before/after but it worked so well that I did about 3/4 of it, ha ha.
I also did the area around my instrument panel and did a small spot on my foot board, which has always looked bad and faded since I got it no matter what I tried to clean it with, and it really does a great job. I am impressed.
Now, I have no idea how long this will continue to look good but, since I work outside in the sun/rain/snow/sun and use it on my boots, it may last a while on the scoot as it does not see that much abuse.
It was very cloudy today so I will try to post some pics tomorrow. This is so cheap and easy to apply that if it indeed lasts a few months I will be very, very happy. It is also possible that it might last a very long time. I think i paid like $4.00 for the can of polish and it can easily do an entire scoot and then some.

Well, I took some pics today and I hope you can see the difference. That is not a shadow on this pic, it is the before/after of the shoe polish. It also did a great job on the trunk back rest. Bill

That's a great idea! Worthy of a post in the body shop or hints and tips.

Thanks Dave. I might wait and see how long this great look lasts. It should last a while since it has wax in it and all. I really like how easy it is not to get a blotchy look when applying. Very little buffing is required either. Right now, this seems too good to be true but...hey, you never know.

Only thing I ever tried on the black parts was a bunch of coats of Armor All which makes a big improvement but the splotchiness was still visible. The shoe polish idea is just pure genius. One of those things that seems super obvious after you hear it.

Thanks Dave. I had already Armoralled the front three times since I have had this scoot. (4 months) I have always had good luck with that product but, it did not work well in this case. The only reason I got the idea for the shoe polish was...I already had some, and, the ingredients on the expensive stuff all mentioned wax. It was just one of those moments.
Tomorrow, I will do the rest of the scoot. I will post more pics after that. We can see how long it lasts as all of these posts are dated.
I really appreciate your positive comments on this idea. If it works out, maybe it will save other folks a bunch of money.

I would not mind flipping scooters...as long as I am not on them at the time...ha ha.
But seriously, a guy with your knowledge could probably make some decent money doing this. Buy a scoot for $100...fix a $5 part, sell it for $300.

I have cleaned my whole Scooter plastics where I thought it makes sense and the result is stunning. Also stunned as to how easy it was to apply the Wakos and how few. I probably used max 15-20ml (Bottle: 150ml) It could be less but even then I could do the whole procedure 7-10 times. Now I know why they gave 10 mini sponges with the bottle. The after images show the end-result, so it is not wet or anything. Also what I like very much about the Wakos is, it does not feel slippery or greasy when you touch the plastics. They feel dry. If WipeNew is similar if not same as Wakos then I can only highly recommend it. Now we can see which lasts longer. PirateLabs did the shoe cream polish, I did the Wakos polish and snopro315 did the WipeNew polish. Let's post images again after 1 month to compare. Here pictures of before and after. One before image shows the red Scooter before painting but I think you should be able to see the light gray plastics.
