Well after my catastrophe of mt cylinder/piston shattering and 2 million pieces of metal in my engine cases, ive made plans to go up to niz76's house tomorrow after work and hes gonna help me check the cases out. Going back to my 49cc kit for now. Today im gonna swap headlight/taillights. Charged my battery last night, plugged it into scooter and I have lights again. So stator must be bad?? Got batterys for my voltmeter so ill check the output today as well.

We'll throw that engine up on the operating table and see if we can't get lucky and get her going smooth!

Well yesterday was fun and eventful. Spent about 8hours workin on the scoot with niz76. What a huge pain in the ass!!! Every bolt was tight and a biatch to get off. Ended up breaking the crank rod, thank god Jeremy had a spare(huge lifesaver). Rode the scooter about 20 miles home(30-40mile trip) and the belt wasnt havin it anymore and lost all grip. I can pull throttle and itll rev up but back tire doesnt move much, all I hear is the belt slippin. Measured th width at niz's place and it was 13.85mm, 17 is what its supposed to be so at 130am I called my girlfriend and had her pick me up with a truck. Fun night, but the engine is sparkling clean :)thanks soo much niz, you da man!!

I'm not sure if I've ever used a belt past 15.0mm so congrats on getting every last mile out of it. It will prob act totally different when you put a 17mm belt on.

Well I feel like a dumbass. I used an alan wrench to hold the variator while I tightened the nut, I never took it out before closing the case!!!! Thats why I broke down. Scoot is rippin once again hahaha

Scoot is rippin once again hahaha Haha Glad it was something simple! Scott- ThatCrazyGuy brought his scoot to my house and we spent all night tearing into that baby! I did feel kinda bad that it took so much longer than I expected- maybe we shouldn't have wasted the first hour swimming haha. That A-hole Murphy sure made his presence felt throughout the whole teardown/rebuild. We tore Scotts engine all the way down dealing with stuck bolts everywhere, working hard for every little step, and when it came time to get the flywheel nut off that sucka was really really stuck! In my geniousness, I put a rod through the crank end where the needle bearing goes to lock the crank into place against the cases while I torqued on that nut and ended up breaking the small end of the crank rod right off. Doh! The crappy part was that the crank and bearings were actually just fine once we got the cases split- we could've re-used everything no problem and simply reassembled after cleaning mostly larger chunks from the case halves. Since I broke Scotts crank, we had to split the spare shortcase engine that I have under my workbench to use that crank. I threw both cranks on my little "runout jig" and both were within .001... We dealt with Murphy some more during reassembly- dealing with that stupid "H mount" these Zips have etc. I did end up donating the small half of my case since that heli-coil stuck up about 1/8" and I just didn't see how we could possibly get the cylinder base to seal like that. In the end the scoot started right up and idled and ran great. What a relief! I was a little concerned as the newly installed crank was just a hair tight- still able to rotate it freely with two fingers but not as free spinning as some other cranks I've done that seem to have zero friction and are real free. Hopefully it'll kinda loosen up a bit?? IDK. It was 1 am once the last piece was buttoned up, electrics and tail light/brake light working, and a test ride around the neighborhood showed that she ran real good. It was nice to work alongside another scoot enthusiast and although Mr. Murphy tried to spoil our fun, we prevailed! The Zip lives!! Haha had a good time. Scoot on brother!!

Found my other belt, forgot it was in the trunk of the car from when I thought my belt snapped last weekend. Measured at 16.65mm width, thank god its good enough where I dont have to buy a 2nd one right now. Need to get my rear tire pumped up, air got too low and rose around and popped it off the bead, think it may have gotten poked by a nail or something but I been wanting to put green slime in my tires anyways so thatll have to work for now.

Well, today I decided to reseat the rear tire beads and inflate, flat again within a few hours. Also decided to do some cvt tuning involving the variator. Played around with 4-8gram sliders, settled with using 6x6g sliders. Noticed while I was riding theres a noise, hard to describe, umm almost like clink clink clink everytime the crank is turned. I checked out the cvt side if the crank and its straight, havent checked the flywheel/stator side yet though. Any ideas of what coulda happened?
Also checked to see If my charging system was working, battery stayed at 11.90volts for about 10minutes at idle & light throttle. Stator is the charging system, correct?

well, sad day this morning. On my way to work I lost all throttle response, and scoot died out. Was hearing a consistent vroom vroom vroom vroom saying half a second apart from eachother.

Replaced the stator and flywheel and she fired up first kick. Gonna start mapping out a blueprint for the zip sitting stripped, gonna make it a badass naked build when I get my money situation figured!
