Usually a minor base gasket leak on a 4T just ends up with oil leaking out and doesn't cause much of an issue otherwise. Torque on the cylinder/head nuts should be about 13ft-lbs.

No oil.. motor is spotless still... Spray carb cleaner around base and the rpm DROP hard...... Air leak there from the way i have been taught... Be nice if the nuts are just loose...lol

Hey guys, On these 4t's... I was looking in the manual and it looks to have like 4 different rings.. Not the 2 on any 2t. Is that correct?.... Can you squeeze together w/o a ring compresser as on the 2t's??? Or will i need to hunt a small compresser? Thanks for any input on this.. I FINALLY got my gaskets in the mail.(they blamed it all on kymco for the "slow walking"..lol)

The 4Ts usually have 2 compression rings (like the 2 you're accustomed to on the 2Ts). Then there's an oil control ring, which is actually 3 rings in most cases. 2 very thin rings that sandwich a wavy ring between them in the bottom ring land. I'm not sure what 4 rings would be, all the ones I've messed with on little 4Ts are 5 rings total that fit into 3 ring lands. Got a pic or a link to the kit? You can do them just like the 2Ts without a ring compressor. If you scroll maybe 1/3 or a little more of the way down in the link below, there's info on 4T ring setup that you may find useful. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=4ttech&action=display&thread=350
