I think it would be safe to slot the holes, the reed stop will hold it down and keep them from moving..

Good afternoon guys...Well, i am finally going to get back to MY scooters.. I am doing a bit of work this a.m on the s9.. I want ALOT of polishing(rims, covers, intake) on this biuld but idk if it'll happen.. Cant decide on a color either, so it'll probably be blue a bit longer... Anyway i had to purchase a new temp senser but the end piece is rigged.(1 wire has the plug-in for the senser,1 wire has the "washer" end.. the one you'd use making a ground). anyway this one has the brass ring, the ones i normally use have the alum. ring.. This i believe goes UNDER the senser and plugged in from top. will it matter if i use alum., or just go buy a copper one to replace the oem?....I hope i dont sound tarted again today...

I dunno. I was wondering if the thermal conductivity of the metals would alter the readings from brass to aluminum to copper.

Brass, alu and copper are all very good conductors of heat. With the thicknesses involved, there will be no perceivable difference.

Hey guys.. Well the intake i had gotten for the s9 wont work with this arreche carb.... SOOOOOO, i will either have to buy another carb or keep running the oem intake.... :banghead:  That kindof blows, this intake is 3 times as big as the oem... (really dont want to return it cuz it's the only aftermarket intake made for a s9)....but maybe the arreche 19mm will be to small and i'd have to have another carb... ;D.. If i go for another carb, maybe someone has a good one to trade out??? Got some wiring done, installed side marker lights. The p.o had CUT the turn signals wires off along with the h.l wire.. No clue why you'd even do that buuuuuutt.. I guess i'll try and elongate the screw holes on the malossi reed petals to use...Maybe i can get it caught up with the zx and sit and LOOK at both  (SHOULD have cvt cover back for the zx by mon.)

Hey Larry,Why wont the 19mm fit?Too small?Get a rubber sleeve to go over the carb flange to adapt it to the bigger spigot..The 19mm is a good choice unless you are going crazy with this build..Altho I must say the stock reed cage looks to be a nice size too, kinda "6 of one-half dozen of the other"..

Hey john, i just went out to get the measurements. The oem intake and arreche 19mm carb have a 20mm o.d with a 42mm c to c. The new intake has a 31mm o.d with a 60mm c to c. but of course fits the reed cage/case..... It did come with a spigot for say a oko carb... Of course i never even thought about that part, so i figure i'll at least give the oem intake some porting..(i do have an adapter for the leakdown tester to fit the oem intake on the way. ) If i had the bad ass skills it would take, maybe one could be fabbed to adapt the arreche with the motorio intake, leaves me out..

Good morning guys.... Well, i think i have another issue now..I went to set the reed cage up and of course the holes are narrower.(mentioned before).... but as you can see in the pic, the whole petal is narrower. See the gap on the side?.... UHHH, cant fix that, correct?.. The other pic is a side by side of the oem and malossi... Any clue where a good place for reeds?... Good reeds. I dont think i would feel comfortable trying to "make" my own at this point... Another ? for you... On the water pump housing.. impellar shaft, when you tighten the fan down against the mechanical seal. Should the shaft be tight?.. Alot of pressure to turn the shaft/fan.. Or should it spin more freely? Here is a pic of what it looks like.. Any input or ideas are greatly appreciated...

Never messed with a water pump on a scoot, but I would think the impeller should turn easily. Sure you aren't missing anything in the assembly?

I've never worked on one either but would say that there should be very little resistance to turning and absolutely no play at all. A small amount of resistance would be ok but definitely not difficult to turn by hand.

I dotn know why Malossi sends Mina reeds with the Kymco but i got a few kits like that too. I had to cut my own for the Kymco cage...

Thanks for the replys guys..... I went and played with it more. Evidently the seal wasnt seated far enough. tapped it in more, it turns now, still tight but ALOT better than earlier...I was told that they dont "free spin" at all...
That really blows about my reed petals. I guess i'll just have to order some oem ones.(they are plastic). Those VL11 petals are suppose to be the correct ones but they aren't as you can see.. Seems like i seen some somewhere that resembled mine but i can't remember where. These petals and the intake..... .. Guess i'll have to save for a carb. The oem intake with arreche was being run, so i'll live with that i guess for now...unless i find a good trade... ;D

Good morning guys.. I went and painted the water pump cover red, of course it's not the correct shade i was hoping.. Either everything polished or red....painting is cheaper, less head ache than polish. I swear i am making a lil bit of progress. I foung out sat. that my cvt cover for the ZX STILL isnt repolished. :stumped: I should be shot for this long ass time frame on either.
