I am trying a leak down test on the s9 tonight..... She seems to be air tight except for the expansion plug tightener.. I did seal iit up. Thats the only place i can see any bubbles or hear air..... Should i just wait till the am and try again or should this be good?... Thanks for any input..........

If it's still holding some pressure with that leaking, it's probably OK. You could always try the trick Robert suggested elsewhere and try using your hand to seal up the exhaust port for a quick check.

Good morning guys.... I went back out to leak test the s9..... I had to place a finger over one of the barbs on the intake but it held for a bit(3 minutes?) (last night, the expansion plug was leaking some, may still have a tad of a leak).. (The engine itself didnt bubble tho)and did go down a tad... Would you think that's passible for a leak down test?

Hey guys... Well, the a.m was raining, shitty day untill an hr ago, now the sun is shining... Anyway, i thought i'd play with the s9 today and get her caught up to the zx... SHE FIRED UP.... :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana: She is revving high at the moment.. It has an arreche 19mm carb with a 80mj, 20pj, needle in the 3rd slot(only 3 on these).. Does anybody have experiance with an arreche?...(need to get a oko so i can exchange jets... ) She fired but not much smoke at all period. I was having to "choke" it myself to crank. If i held my hand over the inlet hole, the rpm would calm down but when i removed my hand, the rpm would jump up there.. The manual choke is making no difference when running either. At this point(i was gonna go down the rd but forgot my helmet) she is starting easier but still revving.. Am i lean all the way around?... Oh yeah, just how accurate are the oem tachs?...the s9's have a tach but when i took off it buried 10g's quick and still had alot of throttle left.....(cvt is red main,dr.p sliders-5.5's?.. According to that tach i'll be doing 15g's but the time i hit top...lol... Thanks guys for any input on this.....

Check the choke out and see if anything may be up with it. I bought a manual choke kit for the 19mm Arreche and the thing never did work right. I just set it aside and bought a Dellorto. I assumel you've already made sure the idle isn't adjusted too high or being held up by a throttle cable issue? Tried to set the mixture?

Yeah, i am trying... the mix screw actually dont do a THING untill ALL the way in, then it'll bog it slightly, otherwise no change there either.. Also this thing had a next-r pipe on when i got it.. i did install a rs2 today.. guess that changes the cvt by itself huh?... The choke SEEMS to work anyway.. i can see the piece move anyway...lol the very tip at the joint is broke loose but the cable itself isnt touched.... Also, this thing doesnt have the "carb insulater" in between the intake and carb.. Aren't you suppose to have this item on too..put the zx one on but it's smaller, so i couldnt use it.. I know someone that'll be in the market for a carb if you want to part with your arreche.... got any jets you need to sell for it?

Sorry, I'm gonna keep my Arreche stuff and I guess I'll let it anger me on Project 90 for some test results at some point. Not looking forward to it. lol You can get jets from provoscooter.com.
I dunno about the insulator, not familiar with the S9. Mine just attached straight to my minarelli's rubber intake.

It's all good.. It seems like all the kymco's with the "flange" style carb/intake has a "insulater" in between. Guess i better order one just for the sake of argument.. Can you not change/refill the front shocks?... The shocks are real soft, squishy.. I'd much rather have them hard/firm. seems to handle better when stiff.. to me. Believe it or not tho, i have no clue how i did it, but when i went to take my short ride, the few times the throttle response was right. the wheel did pick up off the ground. ;D i just gasssed it, that's all.. May be the red contra that helped that..idk These factory dash tachs accurate at all?... surely i wasnt hitting 10,000 rpm+ on my short ride?(wasnt TOTALLY the rollers...lol) I dam sure hope i can figure out the cvt, carb THIS time... :paranoid:

The red contra helped. Every SF10 Kymco motor i know of likes higher roller weight and thats with the stock contra. Im running 8,s in mine with the stock contra and a torsion control. Ide say you need a lighter spring and heavier weights...

You should be able to drain the fluid from the forks and refill with some thicker oil. I fill mine up with as much as they'll hold so they're stiff.

Thanks guys.. I'd swear this cvt has the stock var w/5.5sliders, 2000 contra w/oem flys... I have 1 malossi yellow 1500 and imma try it in the zx 1st.. Maybe i should put the red in the zx after i change gears...lol Good deal, now i just gotta find a huge ass allen head for the forks....lol. I have NOTHING that big...

A nut or bolt head clamped in a pair of good vicegrips makes a good makeshift allen wrench...

A nut or bolt head clamped in a pair of good vicegrips makes a good makeshift allen wrench... Good idea! Thats probably what Allen did first.
