Good evening guys.... Its me again.. I finally got a few jets in the mail for this arreche carb.. I installed a 25pj, 95mj, needle all the way up. The idle is high still and she doesnt seem to want to come down. There is no "carb insulater" on here.(the hole is way smaller than the carb). I think i have a leak there regardless.
When i hold my hand over the inlet tube the idle will decrease. When i remove it, it returns to 3300. The idle screw doesnt make any changes. The mix screw will change it. Am i still lean if my hand will decrease the rpms?. The mix screw seems to like it at 1-1/2 out. Will being lean cause the idle screw not to work? Or is that the air leak at the carb flange? (i sprayed carb cleaner there, the rpm dropped drastically)

Yep,thats an air leak!Make a gasket to go there, not too thick though as it will bend the mount ears..That should fix the leak..

hey john, thanks for the reply... Yep, that was one issue on the idle. The other is/was the screw cap on the cable itself, going into the carb cap needed to be screwed all the way in. I guess the slide wasn't able to fall completely down.. Got some smoke from the 25pj now...lol This carb had a 80mj in it. It was ridden in the "flats" of n.c. I put a 95 in it, maybe that'll get me close enough.

Hey guys.. Tis me again.... :disco: ..........(love the new emoticons. :thumb: ) Anyway, I have a 95mj 25pj, needle in mid slot? (dam, i done forgot that). She starts easy now...lol.. Anyway, up to 1/4 throttle is spitty, spuddery, she dont even come alive/take off till 4500-5000rpm's anyway and this mo fo is in the wind hard core.. :wheelie: :riding:  .. I dont know shit but as of now this s9 is alot meaner than the zx, from what i can tell.. This thing is a beast. Could be partly the rs2 pipe, indicated she hits 65 easy.(of course they are approx. 5mph off, the zx was untill i installed a bigger tire, now its dead on with gps). The mix ring on this chop was also one sided.. One side was good, but the other side was clean... I do believe this L.C engine is the fkn ticket boys... .. Idk what a beast is suppose to ru like but this fkr GETS IT.. get it, get it, get it....GOOONNNE. The handleing s completely different than the zx, this one takes ALL leaning. Gonna take a bit to get used to that part for sure... This thing flat out gets it like this and i havent even installed the multivar/delta clutch.. cvt gotta be close tho.... I DO like the launch of the red spring, dont have the 9000 @ 30mph either... .. Maybe 7.5's would help that.... I know, 1 thing at a time, but it's so hard to..... :disco: Any input on this arreche 19mm carb tuning?

If it's spitting and sputtering 1/4 and below, it's too rich on the idle/pilot circuit. Try leaning it out via the mix screw, if that fails you may want a new pilot.
Is the plug wet at all after WOT? Sometimes a rich mix will wash out part of the plug. You will pretty much always see more coloration below the ground electrode where it's shielded a bit.

Thanks for the reply brent... No, the plug is dry.. Actually i do believe the part UNDER the electrode is the clean part, the exposed is the colored...(good color there..lol) I did install a bigger pj, I thought that was the reason for the hard starts..(untill you covered the inlet and "choked" it)... She starts 1st turn of the starter... So on the mix screw, that would be going COUNTERclockwise to increase air flow and lean the circuit, correct?..

HEy guys, I didnt get much accomplished this afternoon..(my back"went out" or something.. FK this hurts..... I did swap out the 25 pj for the oem 20pj on the arreche carb, my needle was in the 1st slot(all the way down?).. Went right back to the harder starts. My ? is, could the hard start come from sitting for a few days?... When she started, she seem to "need a minute".. I actually had to "flutter" the throttle once. That part may be the man. choke, Id think this choke works as well as the oko man. choke.... She still smokes at idle, Idk what's to much smoke tho either.. I did make a 15 second vid for you.. I was thinking it may STILL be rich at idle and causing the hard start.. It did somewhat start alot easier when warm.... I wonder if i should order a 15pj...(the s9 "database" shows ALL using the oem 20pj, but being up here in the mtns. it seems i need SMALLER jets compared to everyone else in the world).... Here is the short vid.. She wants to LAUNCH at about 48-5000. I had to try several of these, she ALMOST got away from me this a.m.. To much smoke?...to rich looking?

HEy guys, I had replaced the oem 20pj and raised the needle one slot and rode out to the store.. She seemed slower than before. Could raising the needle, make it richer i know, but could that be the slower issue? Of course i didnt check humidity or anything on sat. but i could tell a diiference in her. seemed a tad slower all across the board....
Also, can a faulty manual choke give you false plug readings? (the "barb"(cable slides through) at the bend is broke, so i dont think it's operating proper. I have had her started and intentionally pulled the choke, no change.

Only 1 change at the time! That way you know what changed..Could be a weather change that made it run a bit slower.. Yep,the "choke" is a mini carb inside there,if its activated,it'll add extra fuel and air and foul up any chance of proper tuning. Also the choke may not be working at all, check it cold, should make a big difference when used...
