HEy 190, thanks for the reply on this... Well, i guess this choke doesn't work at all. When cold, choke engaged, still have hard starts...(my other carb's choke you can DEFINATELY tell like you said.) The reason i did both was cause i looked at the "database" and it seemed all arreche's were in the middle slot, BUT of course i am at 2225ft.?

Most carbs with an enrichening valve (choke) have the jet(orifice) drilled in the bottom of the float bowl where the fuel pickup is; Sometimes it'll be in the brass tube, make sure that tiny hole is clear,or the enricher will not work..

Hey guys, thanks 190 for the tip. I do believe that is fixed now...lol I sent the needle back to the 1st slot.(all the way down), She started easily again which was good..I hope to play with the carb some today, as i have not yet took this one out for a long ride yet....(which sux...lmao) Anyway, when i have her idling in the rpm stall..(she wont move till i hit about 4500-5000 rpm) but when running in the stall and i WOT, she wants to bog out hard, about to die hard, but if you "roll" the throttle she'll take off... Would that be in the needle position or needle taper? Or am i off base?... trying to learn so I can help ppl too...lmao Thanks guys for any input

Sounds like the needle needs to be richer(down 1 notch)OOPS!I just read you are already at the bottom,,OK Try this, get a couple wire crimp ring terminals for #4-6 screws, cut the ring off and use it for shims to go under the needle to make it richer..CAUTION!Be sure to check that the needle does not extend above the needle jet at WOT!Or the throttle will surely hang up with you.If that helps then I think you should search for a richer needle(thinner)...

Thanks for the reply 190. I will try that., That seems about like what was mentioned when i 1st started scooters on my oem 14mm. Except i tried alum. cans shims.(that test sucked, i had another issue it turned out then).. It may be easier to try a different needle. This one says W6?(i do believe). I think M.H. has some in stock...... I kindof fell behind lately so imma be strapped a day or 3....

Ive seen backyard tuners carefully measure needles, record them, then put the needle in a drill and sand it down in the area that needs more fuel. The Mikuni VM carbs have a vast array of needles,Here is a link that gives dimensions; www.motorcyclecarbs.com/Mikuni_Jet_Needle_Dimension_Ch_W121C37.cfm#Series%206Perhaps you can find a needle that better suits your scoot there, then do some shopping..I have an unknown Keihin needle in my Mikuni VM22 that works great..The supplied needle was waaay lean and gave me the same fits you are having now!!I dug thru my 40+ years of carb crap and found it,WOW does the right needle make a difference!! :thumb:

Hey there guys, it's me again... Man, odes the needle affect the bottom end all together(besides the pj).. My1/4 throttle sux till i get 5000 rpm. Of course when you wot it from a stop it'll bog down which john suggested the needle.(no way i can sand that, no where near good enought o try that)(everybody else is out of stock)... I was gonna go on a chop but i forgot an extension(dam plastic in the way).... Even though she out of tune, these 7g's i have in now(vs the 6's that were in) seem to shoot to 9-10g's without hesitation as where the zx you can "feel" the whole range. When i 1st did this thing it would bring the front wheel off the ground, now i couldnt pay it to (it had a 80mj then too) Anybody have any input for me?

I'd look at the clutch/torque driver carefully, sounds like its 'shifting up' too fast, thus starting in a higher gear...

I just had a "brain fart".. If the needle is off, could i not install a 15pj and raise my needle 1 notch, since i dont have a needle could that be about the same thing this way as installing a thinner needle? (Of course i'd have to order a 15, they have those, out of stock with needles...)

Got a balance question...... The L.C s9's come with a set of "bar end wieghts" on the bars. I was going down the rd and wanted to see if balanced as good as my zx.... NO When you let go of the bars, the scoot automatically leans to the left fairly hard.. What would be causing that? any ideas?.. No, there isnt 20 extra lbs on the left side...lol That's pretty annoying.. and personally seems dangerous to me...lol The zx will go for miles in a straight line smoothly Thanks for any input/advice..

See if the handlebars are straight when the front wheel is straight. Maybe look at the wear on the tires and see if they are tracking straight down the middle.

Hey man, yeah the bars and wheel is straight.. I probably woulda noticed that right off...lol... Rear whell even also.(old michelin sport) That's why i really couldn't understand why it leaned so hard. Surely they ALL didn't do that. No wonder i thought the handling was so different on this beast....lol
