I have come to the conclussion that i need a bigger battery. the one i had for the 2 stroke doesnt quite have enough oomph to start the engine without a boost. either that or i should try using the solenoid that came with the gy6. but while i did have it running i took it for a drive. HOLY SHYTE!! talk about a huge difference, even with the small wheel on the back it gets up and goes. it buried the needle, so i used the gps speed app on my phone. it hit 81 km/h before i ran out of road.

Well, it's not the solenoid, so it's probably the battery. I'm goi g to let it charge while I'm at work .

I should also note that ok got laughed at while on my way to work. Either because it's somewhat louad, or because the rear wheel looks really out of place.

with my current wheel, which is running a 3.00x10 tire, and using a gps, i clocked top speed at 86km/h. which is a big improvement over the 67km/h i was getting with the 1e40qmb. it also helps with hills. once i get a 12" rim and use my 100/60-12 tire, tune the carb some, its running a little lean, not by much, but enough. i should be able to pass the 90km/h mark. I also HAVE to get the parts for the kick starter, i put my battery on for an overnite charge with the trickle charger, so maybe that will help it.

Thicker gauge wire from the battery to starter, and frame can help you out a little as well.

I'm not sure, maybe 52-53 mph. That's just using the 10" rear wheel, and stock engine, and cvt setup.

Also the Air filter and the exhaust are only temporary until i can get the stock air box and new exhaust system. Right now im having a little trouble finding one that doesnt need the right swingarm brace to mount to.

Its been brought to my attention that ordering a generic 12" rim for the GY6 may be a bad idea regarding to the fact that my engine is a short case and that it uses the 105mm brake shoes. so i have been looking for alternatives regarding this situation. now i have found a few, but considering that they are being sent from the US, and since the US to CAD exchange rate is rather high at this point in time, it is going to cost me a fair amount just for the rim alone. here are the links to the suggested rims. #1#2#3

Figured out why my battery wasnt cranking the engine, my trickle charger was fried. so i got a new one gave it a 30min charge and what do you know, it starts. also i uploaded a video of it just now. here it is.

here is another picture as well to show how odd the scoot looks with the tiny rear wheel.

I've decided that im going to buy the parts to convert my short case into a long case. with the left side case, which comes with the bearings, seal and bushings, the CVT cover, belt and gaskets it will cost me just under $200, thats with taxes and 3 day shipping. i could spend some extra to also get the 12"x 3.50" rim and brakes. scoot-tuning give free shipping on any order over $120, so with all the stuff it would cost me $290. now most of you would say that id be cheaper to buy a long case gy6, but you got to remember that here in canada, and Newbrunswick, shipping and taxes play a big part. so even if a long case 150 gy6 would cost $350 in the US, with shipping and taxes, import and customs charges it would cost close to $550 for the engine. now since i paid $150 for the engine, and if i spent the extra $200 without the wheel and brakes. it would bring me close to what most people would pay for a long case, even if i have to build it myself, it would be the cheapest route for me.

That, and it just looks too funny with the tiny 10" rear wheel and tire. also with the long case and the 12" rim, i can use the 130/70-12 tire that i have, as well as keep a more stock look to the scooter.
