I totally agree about not liking the idea of a 60+ mph. small wheeled scoot- scary! I keep coming across Daelim Cordi's for cheap but not sure if I'd want to build a screamer out of a small scoot. I'm spoiled with my Roketa AIR I guess!

Its not that bad. As long as theres good tires on it.

Its not that bad. As long as theres good tires on it. Exactly. Totally nothing scary about the fact it has 10 inch wheels. Scooter racing in Europe is mostly on piaggio zips and they are all 10 inch wheels. And let me tell ya, those scoots are fast! The stuff available for dio's and honda engines are nowhere near as fast as those 30hp+ Big Evo's Not even the 125cc's. So nothing's really wrong with 10 inch wheels, just don't go over 80mph for longer periods of time.

idk man... 125cc honda motors rip... Its an apples vs oranges conversation. I do understand why you are bitter towards the honda af16 motor only joking.

The 125 conversions Ive seen are poorly designed with porting unmatched to the stroke,If youve got a full machine shop and plenty of time, they can be made to work..

I have pretty fast scoots with 10" wheels, and 12" wheels, Michelin S1's on the 10" & Michelin dual compound on the 12". Both also have rideon sealer balancer in them. I agree decent tires make a huge difference, but I will take 55 on the 12" scoot over the 10" ANY day. Possibly it is a combnation of my weight and maturity level that makes me feel like this. I can ride 1 handed WOT on the 12" wheels like it is a walk in the park, but I don't dare do it on the 10" wheels.

I have an 87 Derbi that rides on 10" tires. It also is chain driven and I have had it around 60mph. I replaced the stock tires with Pirelli SC26 tires with a higher speed rating than most scooter tires. I still have not gotten it to full speed because I always have the thought of breaking the chain or losing a tire at that speed in the back of my mind.

Well....Had fun riding this scoot today, until it started making a noise like a bad crank bearing. So I went to the shop, pulled off the CVT cover, removed the variator and yup the variator side crank bearing is playful. I just cant win! These damn scoots are so frustrating sometimes! Anyway I whipped out the spare set of cases I recently picked up, and started porting work on the intake windows. The more I look at these cases, the more I see the where a PO scarred them up. They are salvageable but dam what a hack job! Going to have to use a thin gasket to seal them together, and even some type of sealant around the crank seals. Crank bearing on the small half slips in and out of the case with ease, so shim stock, or some thread locker to fix that.

I have a nice polini corsa cylinder I may use on this build, but I need a decent crank, and bearings to go with it, but they are not cheap. The guys over at hondaspree say the Honda stock or the Malossi crank is the way to go but those are over $200 + extra for the bearings. I can get a mini stroker from feebay with bearings and seals for around $100 but the stroker cranks are said to fail frequently.

I took advantage of Treatlands 20% off and free shipping to snag a Malossi RHQ crank for this motor. $180.00 total. I may be starting a build thread soon.

If the crankcases are same as Honda's you can do some more porting, there is enough meat in there.
