DANG! Sorry to see that! I didnt think the rod was the failing point. Well not to start with anyway. How much for a replacement engine over there? Can you find em used at a deal?

Yeah, I could get a used engine for $3-400. I have a plan involving a new flowed and port matched crankcase fitted with a brand new full circle crank being delivered on Thursday for $500 Oh, and a ported cylinder too ;D Should be going again by next week, better and badder than before.

Should be looking at 18-19 hp when it's done! It should also be going for a dyno run on the weekend, I promise to get a printout.

Progress is being made, engine's on the bench. The woodruff key's snapped and I can't get the flywheel off, I've stripped my puller trying to get it off I also have the problem of the gearbox output shaft, the nut won't come off and I don't have an impact wrench. Pics to follow when I get home.

Home now, got some more work done. I got the final drive output shaft off with a little help from a vice and a 4' long tube over the ratchet for extra leverage I've removed the starter. etc and am now nearly ready for the new engine. I'll just upload the pics now, if I can find the laptop.

Oh, and I found the the big end and the main bearings are all fine. Seems to be outright con-rod failure :jaw:

A rod failure is usually caused by a scratch or nick that turns into a stress crack, rods should be carefully inspected at each top end removal..
