I'm really glad I have my exhaust a good looking at. The weld around the header, another point said to break, was coming apart! This thing was basically going to fall off soon... I went easy on welding the thin sheet, a bunch of little tack welds, or my interpretation of that method. Let's just leave out the in between pictures. It could possibly take 3rd place in abstract artistic welding. I still need to hit a few more spots. I have a feeling that I'm far from done. And that I may have to start over. The header area started off looking better, but I got hasty and burnt through at a spot. So I layered it up and it seems to be covered fully again, without completely disrupting the flow. Now to work on the head and cylinder until it's a little later inn the day. I don't want to completely mess up the neighborhood's Saturday morning.

190mech, thanks so much for the spacers! Did you need the eBay receipt for a video card that was in the package? Lol. I should've told you just a hair bigger, but it's close enough that I'll be able to use a bit of sandpaper to get them to fit over the skirt. Working on this cylinder a bit, I opened up the exhaust port and raised it just about .75mm . still not done, but it's way more open without as many areas to have dead space where carbon builds up. There's still a few areas I can't get to in the exhaust port, kind of looks like a casting defect. A few places near the inside that are sunk in a millimeter. I got most of them, but these might mess up the shape of the port if I get too excited lol.

This may not work, but I grinded the welds down almost smooth and used a metal putty, moldable epoxy stuff to fill in the small craters between the weld spots and smooth it out. Then sanded and painted. Also high temp painted the cylinder and head. Then I'm going to high temp paint the shrouds white. Gotta go get the white and some brake fluid. Seems like at least 2 of my four scooters in the driveway are low. And after looking even closer at the pipe, it seems to have been welded here at a bend too. I wonder if it broke or if it was cut to fit the motor with the fatty wheel. I know the mount to the motor is custom...

Oh Damn, I forgot that the donar rear brake handle and cable got put back on the battle scooter. Guess I better source those. Might need rear brakes....

Doesnt matter how a pipe looks from the outside(unless youre a lookit me type),gotta be pretty smooth and clean on the inside though..

That patched spot I just fixed, definitely not the smoothest on the inside lol. I did remove the little piece that was barely hanging on, smoothed the edges of the hole, and tried to bend the edges upward to allow the small piece of steel to sit flush on it. How it actually is on the inside is probably not good at all. I was going for a good looking bike with this one, it's still better looking than the s9. But I'm far from done. End result will most likely be me finding another top end and pipe for it anyways. I'm just working with what I have at the moment. Just for kicks, I put it back together with the opened exhaust port, no head gasket, and about a millimeter taken off the head where it meets the cylinder. It starts, I haven't rode it yet because I'm trying to avoid the extra stress that was put on the flange and header by the angle that the pipe is bolted to the motor. The mount on the pipe doesn't quite line up well to the point it bolts to on the motor. I put a smaller bolt in there for now, but there's no nut that I can find here that will fit it to ensure that it's firmly in place. I may try to run up to Lowe's before they close, but I don't see that happening. I've definitely pushed my limits with the girlfriend on my scooter time today, she's been putting in lazy Netflix time. But that will be ending soon, I'm sure.

Good strategy. I tend to mix in a little time with her while I'm wrenching, usually drive by kissing while running through the house for parts or to wash hands. Mainly that I keep my kid outside the whole time while I do it so she can watch gorey shows keeps her happy. That turns into another attention situation. Don't go in the road, yes honey, that's beautiful, I'd love to try you imaginary black berry spider honey tea, wait, I said wait, stop it, I said stop it, and of all this is my favorite- yes baby, we will take a scooter ride. I'm definitely lucky to have a great kid and girlfriend. Her kids are great too, I hang with them on weekdays. Anyways, I ended up taking it for an extremely short ride up the road. I didn't want to tweak the motor mounts again before permanently securing them, they suck trying to fix alone, and I'd like to get that shock riser on it. It felt nice and powerful. Might've been just the first cold takeoff feeling. You get that? I feel like my motors all usually feel a bit peppier right after warm-up. Maybe it's just me. Now to decide to take that or the battle scooter to Charlotte today...

Got the bolts and nuts I needed, in record time thanks to the lady in the bolts department at Lowe's. Grinded down the shock riser to fit, welded the brackets I made to the frame, and took it for a quick ride. Just the little that I did to the exhaust port and head really helped the bottom end. Tried to wheelie onto my front steps on accident lol. I might have to do away with the spring type frame to engine mount. It feels like it wants to let the motor crawl from beneath the bike lol.

Went yesterday and picked up a rear brake cable, handle, mirrors, and a minarelli kick start lever off of a keeway hurricane at a small scrap yard in town. The kick start didn't fit, and the handle doesn't really match, but the cable works great. All that for 15 bucks, not a bad deal in my eyes. I really just wanted a lever and cable to make it safe to ride. I'll get fancy levers and some pretty and shiny cables later on, when it's bar replacement time. I still would love to find a way to do a rear disc, like the chuckus, ruckus clones. I think I may have found my vibration issue. I paid closer attention today on a short ride. Instead of focusing on the speedometer and the engine sound and how it really lights up at 40 mph I tried to mentally map the causes of vibration and how it moved the bike. The right side of the handlebar sits about as still as it can. The left side starts to go a bit shaky after about 20mph. So, what on the left side could be making it do that? The rotor! I can subtly feel it in the brake lever too. Not a lot, but some. I had removed it to paint a long while back, then again when I wanted to pull the caliper but not the whole wheel, or something like that. I'm about to see if I can tell if it looks out of whack, maybe try to reposition it. I really wish I had a center stand. So much would be so easy with one.... I'm gonna see if one from the scrap yard will fit. And see if I left my good adjustable wrench there yesterday.

Well, doesn't seem to be out of balance, at least to the naked eye. Unless it's what I fear, that it's the rear end that's out of whack. I may try to break loose the lug bolts on the wheel and shift it around a little then tighter them back, see if that changes anything. Again, I sure wish I had a center stand lol.

Oh yeah, I'm hooking up the oil injection again, I don't like premixing, I like to ride and ride and ride, no measurements on the fly. I am able to do it, but I'd like consistency. I used almost a whole quart of not cheap oil mixing gas for the battle scooter at 40:1. Closer to 45:1. I have used far less than that riding for 5 fill ups in the s9. I'm not looking forward to that with this, I'll set it to open a little more, just like the s9, and see if it pumps before I get too carried away. I may do what another Rattler owner did to help compensate modifications, move the bracket for the cable a little further away to get that last mm or so of pull. But who is to say that that last little bit actually does anything? I'll see. Worst that can happen is I'll have to buy a bbk for a bws and a pipe. Lol. I actually have someone in our club Facebook group that has a Rattler he has tricked out. He's already given me advice and sent pictures of how he did things.

Good news, oil pump is functional. Bled it out properly, seems to be working fine by the amount of oil I accidentally bleed all over the bike. Other good news, the forks were still a little off, about .4mm. I also loosened and tightened the rotor and rear wheel, trying to keep balance in mind. Now the vibration and slight bounce is much more tolerable. I can feel an uneven brake contact the rear, not sure if it's the hub or what. Bad news, the pipe literally broke off while riding. The weld at the flange broke the rest of the way and where I welded it. Not sure if that was before or after the bracket that bolts to the motor broke. It also has a crack at one of the bends. My review of this prima pipe, zero stars. Heard the exhaust start to leak, was about a mile from my destination, less than 30 seconds later a thunk, ran it over, then deafening exhaust.... Anyone have a 100cc pipe? I guess I need to just buy the bbk for the bws and a pipe. Damnit.
