Just when you think you are ready for final assembly, you see something else you missed. That looks like a bottle neck to me. How much should I clear the skirt out?

I was afraid to open the skirt area up much due to the close proximity to the pin area. Before After

Looks good! You didnt cut the skirt strengthening webs too much, round all sharp edges(yeah, airplane wing).. Looking at where the skirt is just when the transfers start to open tells a lot, should be clear flow, after that its all fed from the transfer duct area..

I found another reason to love this scoot today, its simple to pull the motor because the center stand is attached to the frame. It took most of the day to finish it up, but its running. I tried to use the Phongeer short pipe, but when I bolted it up to the exhaust port it is nowhere near the mounting holes so I ended up using the V8 pipe and it fits like a glove. I also tried to use a Doppler air filter I recently picked up, but it does not clear the shock enough. So I ended up putting the orange lawnmower filter back on.

Sounds good! Now ride it! Too cold for me to ride! Hopefully it will warm up enough one day soon so I can ride it. Going to break this one in easy like. For a change.

I rode this scoot for the first time today, and it feels pretty good so far. Afterward I was looking the motor over and noticed I had a small exhaust leak. Since I had to pull the V8 pipe off to fix the leak, I decided to try to fit the PG short pipe again. This time I used a very thin gasket instead of the donut style, and the pipe lined up much better with the mounts. I used a carbide burr to open up holes in the bracket, and a few washers to space it out a bit. I did not get a chance to ride it with the PG short pipe yet, but it definitely sounds different. Like I mentioned before, this pipe is a straight through pipe you can fish a cable through it.

Guess what I did? Just like our very own 90GTVert I forgot to put gear oil in the gearbox! Yup, I screwed this one up. Despite it being fairly cold, I could not resist my real first ride on this build. So my buddy and I set out on a "short" ride. I had no idea how short it would be! Barely 2 miles into the ride, as I was marveling at the power I had at 1/2 throttle, the 2T sweet music, and the overall smoothness of the ride... it happened. As I was coming to a stop from a short 45 mph stretch I felt something get tight in the drive line. The rear wheel locked briefly and I am pretty sure the sound I heard was a bearing spin in its race. I knew immediately what I had done, or should I say had NOT done. My buddy rode back to the shop and got me the gear oil and a wrench. I limped it back the two miles to the warehouse and just left it there. I cannot stand to even look at it right now. Hopefully I can throw $300 or so in hard to find parts at it and get it fixed.

Say it's not true!! If it's like my Honda cases I can guess the bearing that didn't like it. Hopefully it's not to bad.

I know how breaking parts feels. I hope that it turns into a fairly easy fix and not so damn expensive.
