I think maybe you just need a simple ad "starts, drives runs, title in my name" also request a phone number for a response. If they can't read the ad and send a phone number they probably aren't interested anyway. I usually get better responses from those kind of ads then when I try listing everything. I did put my number in the reply part of the ad after the first week instead of just providing it to anyone that emailed to ask since others seem to think that's the way to do it. I can't say it really helped. I just had idiots coming at me from all directions instead of 1. I hate sounding mean, but they really did act like idiots or just lied about coming to get it or calling me back. I was thinking : 150cc scooter. Starts easy. Runs. Clean title. Don't be a dumb-ass and offer me trades or lowball bids. It's a simple process, don't $%#* it up. Get the cash in full. Arrange a truck or van to pick it up with. Contact me to setup a time to check it out. Give me the cash. Sign and receive the bill of sale and the clean title. Load it into the truck or van and get the hell away from me.

I think you should be more selfish here. Make sure when they don't show up, you arent hindered in any way. So don't adjust your agenda to the buyers, let the buyers adjust theirs to you. If they really want it, they will do so.
Someone want to come see it at 6am? C'mon man...thats just ridiculous. I don't get why you even agreed on that request?

I've had such a small amount of people that really seem to want it that I was trying to get rid of it. I'd be up any time day or night if I was certain a person would show up and there would be no nonsense. I can't be sure of that, so I was only willing to go as early as 6AM because it's pretty normal for me to be up at 5AM for no reason anyway. I don't even really have anything against delivering it short distances. We all know my scoots have seen too many rescues in the truck anyway, so loading it up isn't a big deal. There's just no one that I trust at all on craigslist so I won't take the risk to haul it a single mile at this point.

The replacement stock header came in first so I got the custom exhaust off and installed the stock header. I forgot that I modified the bracket for the homemade muffler. I had to cut off the front mount and weld it back on in the original spot, with a spacer under it to make up for what was lost in cutting it a couple of times. I didn't have clamps either, so I made 1 out of 1/8" thick by 1" wide aluminum. They're a pain to make IMO and 1 held it well enough, so I suck with 1. The brakes for this and the TaoTao showed up next. They're complete hydraulic systems, even with fluid in them out of the box. I couldn't get the whole assembly on in one piece though, so I had to drain it and take it apart to put it on in a couple of pieces. They had some real quality fluid in this thing. It was murky and had sediment in it. Yet another example of the crap China calls a fluid. Brake fluid from past attempts to bleed and fill had wrinkled the paint on the handlebar cover and I wiped it right off. I cleaned it with alcohol and gave it 2 coats of flat black. It was quite fun fitting the new master cylinder into the handlebar covers. It is a bottom exit instead of side exit for the brake hose and that caused more problems than I anticipated. I ended up having to trim the top cover in a couple of spots and the covers just barely fit, but it's together. Everything seems to work well. The exhaust is quiet, though it's still got the intake noise through the pod filter. The quieter scoot now makes whatever the noise is in the engine/trans more noticeable, but at least it's closer to inspection worthy than it was.

This is the vid that will go with the craigslist ad whenever it goes back up. Kept it short. People seem to want to know mostly if it starts and runs and I've had some questions about handling for testing so I covered that stuff and that's about it.

After a long break, it's back on craigslist. Changed the ad completely so there's not much detail at all. I may sound like a jerk in the ad, but anyone that's dealt with craigslist will understand. At this point, I don't really care. lol easternshore.craigslist.org/mcy/6154843841.html

Good ad, to the point. Maybe you'll get some respect this time.

One guy already wants to come see it Friday because he's looking for something to pass a motorcycle test on. That seems to be the #1 use for a 150 around here. No one actually wants to ride them unless they're trying to sneak by as a 50, but I think a lot of that ended when registration was required.
If this ad works better, I still find it sad that people don't really want to know about what they're buying. Oh well. As long as someone will take it, they don't have to know anything about it for all I care. It went up in Aug the first time. We're way too close to a year of me trying to sell this thing.

BINGO! I actually liked the "CL ad for dummies" haha. Ya sometimes I have two ads running at once- one with lots of details that a thoughtful, intelligent, informative seller would include for a potential buyer, and then one with just bare bones nitty gritty info (still more than most CL'ers include!). It is a sad state of affairs that folks seem to respond to the "scooter for sale. Yellow." ads more than something with loads of info... Hope u get it out of your hair soon! The force is with you!!

So far I've only been contacted by 2 people, but both are scheduling to come look at it. I haven't had any of the crazy nonsense of $200 offers, trading for snakes, wanting to show up at 3AM, and so on. I guess the secret to getting serious replies is to be an ass and tell the idiots to jog on in the ad. Either that, or I've just been lucky so far and I'm overdue for a tidal wave of BS.

Got a call from someone today that wants to come over at 2 tomorrow. He asked if I had a video about stators or CDIs and I said yeah. He said he recognized my voice. I can't be the only person in the world that sounds like a big fat dummy so it's prob more likely he saw my other vids when he watched the one in the ad. Then he asked if I knew what the sound was that it makes. I said maybe the clutch or CVT, I hadn't looked into it that much.

The guy that was coming Friday contacted me and said he had too many bills this week, but he'll try for next Friday.
The other guy did show up today with a ramp in his truck and all. Said he and his wife have 2 TaoTaos so he knew me from those videos and was happy that the scooter was mine. Then I started it and after crawling around on the ground and back up and down and up he said he was just too afraid of the noise that it makes and that catastrophic failure was coming. He asked how much for it with a new engine and I told him I wasn't interested in doing that. Nice guy. Thanked me for my time and I told him I totally understand his reservations. I was very tempted to tell him $250 and then grovel at his feet to please take this $%#*in' thing, but I resisted the urge.
