Same here in SC, They will not title a scooter. Although I did somehow get a Zuma titled and tagged as a MC, it came from out of state with a title and I played stupid at the DMV.

Kapow! Vermont registration and Plate showed up today! Although I can just drive the scoot with this plate and renew it every year, my goal was to end up with a FL title. I'm about 75% of the way there! Now I'll need to take this registration to my local Tax Collector and pay the fees to get a Florida title and plate. Until then, I'll ride it with this...

2nd and final packet arrived today! This is the registration card and sticker. That means my experience with Motorecyclenow.com is now complete. I give it 5 stars and two thumbs up! One could certainly handle this process themselves through the mail but for my first time exploiting this loophole I was more than happy to pay them to handle it properly. Well Done Sirs!

I can now take that registration card to my local Tax Collector office (DMV) and get a Florida title (more $$), or I can just drive it like it is with the VT registration and renew every year. I do plan to get a FL title and plate for it though so keep a lookout for that update here when I have the $$...

I do realize this is a very old thread, but its already got so much valuable I do in it, I decided to resurrect it.....sorry, but lease put down the pitchforks and torch's, for now anyway.
The Helix I recently bought from Maine has never had a title, and Mainenonly required a registration form. Ky requires title, registration, insurance, etc... Part of the purchase agreement on this Helix was he would pay for a service to acquire the Vt tags and card.
I would really like to hear from everyone who has used this service, and to ask Niz, if he has ever got the Fla title using the Vt paperwork?
My Helix isn't an antique, but its more than 15 years old, so motorecyclenow will do it.
Any more reviews or news from others who have went this route?

I have used the service for a 79 CB750, everything was flawless the only catch is once you get your Vermont card your now driving with out of state paperwork which may be ok in your state or not. So then you pay for title and registration in your state. So you pay twice to make it legal into your state. I also believe you can do the Vermont title without the service company, straight from their website.

I used Motorcyclenow to get a VT tag for a 250cc Chinese cruiser bike that I had a MSO but no bill of sale for. It worked but like ryan_ott said I probably could have gone online and got the tag straight from VT DMV. You will not get a title from Vermont for your Helix however, They like Maine do not title motorcycles less than 500cc. You will only get a tag and a registration. The registration form has a place for the seller and the buyer to sign just like a title. Florida accepted the registration as a title and issued a Florida title for the bike when I sold it. You may be able to do the same thing with the Maine registration in Kentucky. If the bike is registered in a state that does not title that size bike, another state will recognize that registration as proof of ownership and grant a title, otherwise people moving from Maine to Kentucky would have to dispose their vehicles and buy new ones when they get to Kentucky, I would take the Maine registration form to your DMV and see if they won't issue a title off of that.

Good Points.
I've got the VT paperwork here from the Vt DMV, but I'm not 100% what with this being the first time I've went this route, that I wouldn't mess something up...
If it was me paying for this, I would rather pay the service once, than to pay file, and have to redo something. Although, if the DMV form.is right, the only thing I would need to send with it would be a copy of Bill of Sale and proof of insurance/license. Not sure, as I've gotten three diffetent answers from the Vt DMV emails.

What's up ya scooter nuts! Yes yes I'm still alive and kicking and the ol Vespa is too. To this day I'm still renewing and driving it on a VT plate even though you're supposed to transfer over within 10 days of being a resident in your state. Ha. Interestingly, they sent a new plate 2 years ago- I honestly don't know why- which is a bit of a bummer the new one doesn't say "antique" on it. WTH VT??? I've been considering selling the ol' Vespa tho as it just kinda sits around a lot and I rarely ever ride it. I'll fire it up about once every month or two and zip around the neighborhood, do a few wheelies, and just park it again. Maybe I should let someone else enjoy it eh? So... maybe just maybe I'll have a final update to this thread. I'm still mulling over whether or not to get the FL title in my name before selling just to appease the more apprehensive worrisome buyers but then again selling to those types of folks can be a burden when you're a nice guy who follows up and stays available long after the sale. Hey real quick- wanna hear something cool? For those that remember the ol blue Roketa AIR 90cc scoot- he's STILL ripping around on that thing!! Just a couple weeks ago he messaged me just to confirm he was buying the correct rear brake pads for it. Amazing huh?! These long lasting scoots are just a testament to everything I learned here in this forum and applied... Hope all is well with everyone- Happy Scootin!

I did the Vermont route for my 58 Allstate. Didn't use a service, cost like $47 total.
There's a company in I think TN that'll go the more legit route where you get a title for it instead of just a registration. Saint's Cycle Works. $300 or so and you're legal as can be.
Niz76 - If you do plan on selling the Vespa def get a title. You'll sell it for much more that way than without.

Looks like the Vermont loophole is closed now then.
