do u need a license in sc to ride a scooter You have to pass a knowledge and vision test and get a moped license, unless you already have a valid drivers license. My only answer to the knowledge test is "I know how to ride a moped".

I had ordered some amber LED's for the front turn signals and they came today. I got them to try in the headlight housing, in place of the running lights that were there. After a little rewiring I had them working. I like the way they look there, so I removed the front external blinkers that I originally hooked up. Old blinker location New blinker location

Tropical storm rain here today gave me plenty of time to work on the scoot this afternoon. The only thing left to do with the electrical is to clean up the install and decide how I am going to hide the wires that are run from the handlebar area to the seat bucket. I ran the wires that go to the rear lighting and signals inside of the frame.
I need to come up with some type of a box at the handlebars to house all the connections and then mount a GPS to the box to use for a speedometer.
I also realized the regulator has not been working the whole time I have been working on this scoot, just another thing the PO hacked up. I discovered the regulator had been changed to a generic one so I pulled the genuine Kymco regulator from my other ZX and plugged it up. The charging started working properly, so either I need another genuine Kymco regulator, or I need to re pin the connector to match a generic regulator.

Oldgeek, This is a subject I was studying up on just recently as I think I'll try to convert my P200 over to one of the $8 China generic regulator/rectifiers instead of shelling out big bucks for a Vespa oem one. Ya I'm cheap too lol. Here's what I've come up with- tbh I'm not 100% sure all the generic rectifiers are set up this way but I'm pretty sure most of them are. I just haven't been able to install it on my scoot yet and confirm...

I will find out later today

So I was wrong niz76. The Kymco regulator is wired just like your sketch. The first 2 regulators I tried that I had laying around the warehouse did not work no matter I wired them. Then I remembered I had a few bnib regulators from parts for scooters (159-43) at the house. I tried 3 of them and they all worked so thanks for the help! If you want one of the tested regulators let me know.

I rode this scooter around between rain showers today and it is quickly becoming my favorite scoot despite it having a stock motor. The brakes are easily the best of any scooter I have, and without the plastics it feels more like a motorcycle to me. It gives me the "knees in the breeze" feeling that I love. So now I have some motivation to start on a decent motor for this scoot! I pulled out a set of stock cases and started opening the intake windows a bit, but my hands started cramping so I quit. Currently the large half of the case has epoxy curing in part of the oil pump hole.

Thinking about a cheap aluminium cylinder. Possibly an Airsal or Naraku. I have never used a aluminium cylinder before and I have been itching to try one out on something.

I mentioned in another thread that I ordered some parts for this build. I ordered from Scooter Attack in Germany on May 30th around 10:00 in the evening. The good news is that the parts arrived TODAY June 2nd! That is pretty dam fast IMO. I upgraded the standard DHL shipping that cost about $38 to expedited UPS shipping that only cost about $4 more. The bad news is the airsal cylinder they sent me is not correct for my Kymco, even though it is listed for my motor. I guess I should have done more homework on my own to ensure I was getting the correct part. I guess a return would not be very economical, so I may just try to dump it on feebay and cut my losses, or see if the 47.6mm piston will fit anything else I have.

Oh dang what a bummer! Figures- get a fast delivery and it's the wrong part. Seems a lot of places list these Kymco parts incorrectly??

Looks like that cyl is for the Kymco Super 8&9 / Like 50 / Yup / Cobra. The exhaust flange gives it away. You might get lucky and sell it to someone here. This was a killer deal when available. How about this as an option?
Maybe a true 50mm kit? Are you using the Malossi crank you got awhile back ?

Oh dang what a bummer! Figures- get a fast delivery and it's the wrong part. Seems a lot of places list these Kymco parts incorrectly?? The trick is to make sure the exhaust flange is at an angle for the ZX50 engines. Iv almost made the mistake with Kymco parts. A lot of places think the super 8 & 9 engine are the same as the ZX50 engine, and they are not.
