Doing some engineering and found out the shock mount on the motor is about 3.5" behind the centerline of the shaft on the 250cc and 2" in front of the centerline on the 50cc. Moving the shock mount back about 8" over all should give me good clearance for the head in the frame and enough articulation so it doesn't bind though out the arc.
The exhaust should be easy to get done using 1 7/8 header tube into a 2.5 inch muffler made from exhaust tube.
Looks like there will be a lot of fabbing and mocking in the weeks to come. Need the wheels before I can start to assemble and make final placements. But being an adult with bills is pushing that back a few pay cheques.

Got the frame extended today using chopped up frame bit from the parts scooter. For reference, the stock tail And the extendend back I have to find a way to connect the very back gap. The old tank needs a little modifying to fit back in the stock location. That mostly just trimming down some tabs on the seam flange.

Triple tree installed with freshly packed bearings and the gas tank trimmed to fit. Approximate shock mount area determined so far. Wont really know til I get some wheels and tires on this thing.

i would build a couple of cross braces on that extend piece just to add some more strength and rigidity. and a center brace from the steering shaft to the the center of the scooter would also help out alot, expecially with that monster 250cc.

There is a plate under the tank that has about 3 inches of weld along each side in addition to the radius weld of the tube for the extension. Probably gonna put two smaller braces going from the very end to the cross brace around the tank where it angles in at the top. The connection from the upright to the frame will be made when I get the mount done and the rad put in place so I can determine angle. I just spent the last 2 hours looking over tire options. Since I'm limited to a 13" rim and a 10" span from shaft centre line to case edge its looking like 130-60-13. I'd like 140-50-13 but that leaves me with less that a 1/4" clearence

Does someone make a 140/50-13 tire?

Does someone make a 140/50-13 tire? that should read 140-60-13. I couldn't find 140 in 50 or 55. 55 would actually be perfect.

you could go with a 130/50-13that would give you the tread width and the low profile so you wont have any rubbing issues.

Get Michelin power pures, trust me. Lol I LOVE mine so much that it's hard to even think of a different tire.

I can see you are as bad of a welder that I am . I'd re-enforce the frame even more from the painted weld.

My welds may not be pretty but they have good penetration. This metal is so craptastic, there is a fine line between too much juice blowing and no penetration at all so I had to turn the wire speed up and get clumpy looking welds a lot like the factory. You should see the scrap pile from setting up the machine.
There is a 3 pass layered weld along the bottom of the extension to that plate across the bottom where the tank sits. Its supper solid.
I got some fender washers at work today to use for shims for getting the mount built. Its almost finished in my cad programme. A few tweaks then print it out on 30# paper and spray glue it to some plate and use cut off wheels and a grinder to shape. I really need a decent table mounted band saw.
