50 mph on a 49cc 4T not that strange. I've hit 50 indicated on mine a few times with only an iridium plug and needle adjustment. Correct. Forget all that messy motor work! Just invest in a speedometer that gives you the desired results

My speedo is off by about 5 mph. That's still 45 mph. Im thinkin itll settle at 55 mph max when Im done. 2 strokes can get up to about 65 mph or more right?

I'd say your speedo is off a lot more than 5mph, you have a stock 50cc GY6 on a generic chinese scooter, sorry, you can not change the laws of physics...

Stock speedo is 5mph faster than the speed monitors in school zones.Maybe theres a bigger difference at 45 mph.

Factory/MCO says 30, probably more realistic.
Be interesting to see how many riders have gotten tickets because of a cheap speedo. I use a GPS and wave at the cops.

The only way mine will hit 50 is when I throw it off the cliff

Stock speedo is 5mph faster than the speed monitors in school zones.Maybe theres a bigger difference at 45 mph. I would say so. School zones are usually 15 mph and to be off by 5mph at that low speed I would guess that your error gets progressivly worse as speed increases so you could be off by as much as 15-20mph at top end. I've seen scooter speedos that are reading 80mph when the scoot is actually doing 35mph. Also, people sometimes overlook the fine print right on the speedometer itself.... Km/hr

I hit 53 mph indicated on my stock bore gy6 and my real speed is somewhere about 37-39 mph. The Chinese speedos are off at least 20%, if not more. The good news is...we actually have less miles on our scoots than the odometer reading tells us.
Bill
PS Yes, it is a percentage so, the faster you go, the more it is off.

I got the engine off the scoot. For once I'm going to look at it on the bench so I don't have to bend down as much.
