Going to buy some porting tools today to trench the cases. Any recommendations? When I did my cases I used some cheap dremel knockoff burrs and bits. That worked perfectly. The removal of material (alu and JB) went perfect but getting the two trenches symmetrical to the eye took by far the longest time. Everytime I went away getting something to drink or whatever and came back I saw something and wanted to change something again and again.

Thanks guys! I bought these here yesterday at my local hardware store. The slim ones seem to be a bit more gentle and allow for finer grinding. Saw a guy porting his cases for a Polini Evo 94 with it. I will however practice on my spare engine first to get a feeling for it before doing it on my Aerox engine. I also just placed an order for those on ebay that Brent linked to. You can never have enough tools.

My only advise...is to use burrs for bulk material removal and use something finer for "shaping". On a 49cc port I rarely use a burr. I have many "stones" which work well.

I agree with tsimi...never enough tools. Luckily for us in Thailandia, we can buy accessories for our Dremel tools and a fraction of what the US costs are. Some are inexpensive China or local brands...but they are "consumables", meaning throw away when worn out. I have never had a failure with the cheap stones or burrs or polishing heads...though I found out that dropping one in a drain can be avoided.

Placed a few orders recently for small bits and pieces which I still need for this build. Two deliveries arrived already. Side stand, NGK Spark Plug wire with cap, exhaust guardNeed the side stand since the center stand will be obsolete with the Roost pipe. The exhaust guard idea is great for small belly pipes like a Next-R or a V8 or stock pipe but is useless as is with a fat pipe like a City 16 or C16 and above. Need to add some spacers to get it further out. And here a cool BIG airbox made for the PWK carbHi benji The airbox looks sturdy. Has 3 big holes on the side and it came with 2 snorkels to adjust airflow. The carb fits only in that one position shown in the pictures above. There is no play room at all, not even 1mm. Not sure how the box would fit or get bolt on but I guess I'll figure out something. I hope this will make carb tuning a bit easier than it would be with a UNI filter or any other pod filter.

Did it also come with covers for the holes? In the pic on webike it looked like it did. I like the exhaust guard! I'm guessing the airbox should make starting and idling easier, as well as clean up mid range. My jog still has a stock airbox and it starts anytime I accidentally move the kick lever haha.

Did it also come with covers for the holes? Yes, only one cap is included.

WOW that airbox is awesome! I've been looking for a solution for big carb+airbox combos a long time, ended up making my own bulky diy airbox...
Is this really plug n play for minarelli engines? Could you measure up the diameter in the airbox' intake rubber/carb mounting hole?
I always wanted to do a PWK or mikuni TM upgrade on the axis.

Got some bearings, rubber grommets for radiator and washers delivered. As you can see I ordered way too many grommets. I wanted to order 4 grommets and didn't read the small written stuff which said 1 = 1 pack of 10 Ah well, I might use them somewhere one day... Lucass2TDid you mean the inner diameter of the airbox intake where the carb goes on? That is 50mm. The 3 holes have a ID of 28mm. It is not a bolt on for Minarelli engines. (see images below) It was made for a BWS100 or Grand Axis 100. The distance from mount center to mount center is 80mm. I also just realized today that I am missing the bottom airbox mount on the Aerox engine so I might have to switch to a UNI filter after all. Still I will see what I can do with that airbox once the engine is build. Aerox engineMinarelli short case, 5BM CVT cover

That is a nice looking air box. I would get the intake and carb situated and then try to make a bracket or something to allow you to use that air box.

oldgeekExactly, that is what I am gonna do. First build the engine, mount the intake and carb and then I'm gonna start to figure out what to do with that airbox.

Thanks for the info and pics Tsimi!
It sucks that that lower airbox mount is gone:( Can you get it welded up or maybe put a nice blob of JBweld there?
