Iv been doing more tinkering. Added a TTO temperature gauge.(a must have) I have a thing for doing away with the DOT turn signals and switching to the European turn signals that are built in. Crazy thing, they are already pre-wired and the bulb are removed. So I added some bulbs. Whats even crazier, the turn signals/hazards work with the key off, go figure. Front Rear I really wanted to see what it looked like all put together. I know I will have to take it back apart to run the new throttle cable and get the ignition lock re-installed,and pull the DOT turn signals but I just had too do it(OCD) Buffed out most of the scratched, will need to get touch up paint for the scuffs which looked like they were from tie down straps(was the same on both sides) I know I will need to replace the crankshaft seeing the stock one is known to fail. Hope someone chimes in on where to get a decent one. Scrappy's seems to have a good deal on one that comes with seals and bearings. The stock one looks ok, but who know what abuse it took before me. Although the previous owner said the engine was set to go, but it was pretty dry inside for just being rebuilt. Engine tear down will be soon.

Scoot-tuning has an Athena crank but I'm not sure if kickstart lever will work with it I'm using electric start on mine and it works well

I tried buying the Scrappy one but they were out of stock not sure when they would be in. I got the Athena crank and either I didn't get it centered correctly or its off by about 2mm and I needed spacers on the CVT cover to use the kick start. Its in Scoot-tunings liquidation for just $105 US. Scoot-tuning is great to deal with shipping is usually okay from Canada, faster then Racing Planet 's imported parts.

Well i'v been plugging away on this project. I ordered a crank from Scrappy and a throttle cable from Peirspeed on Ebay and a couple blank keys from another site. The crank was shipped like this. I was expecting to see it bagged with some sorta oil to protect the crank from rusting. It does show some signs of surface rust, but the rust is not on any "important surfaces" The only REAL concern with this crank is that its a "full circle" vs the stock crank that is part "open". I am wondering how well the crank bearing will be lubricated going to premixed if they are blocked by the "full circle" crank. Need feed back from you folks.I dropped the engine from the scooter and was finally able to pull the intake. I removed the 2 oil injector fittings and filled them with JB Weld. I was able to save the old gasket and cut me some new ones by hand.
Note: I did not cut the holes for the oil injection.(2 less leaks to worry about) I pulled the flywheel and was surprised to see this underneath. I thought the stator's were 4 poles, not a 8 poles. The flywheel did put up a fight coming off but I did not beat on it. Just put a bit of pressure on it and used my heat gun to warm up around the taper and it just "popped" off. Then I spent a bit of this afternoon playing locksmith. Seeing I had the tumbler out of the lock I pulled out my jewelers files and cut the blank key to fit. I just did one side and went to the local hardware store to cut the rest.(why do it 3 more times manually and take the chance of screwing up) Needless to say I have keys now. The hardest part was reconnecting the trunk release cable to the lock assembly, what a PITA. Repaired the broken tab on the ignition bezel with Plastic Welder. Removed the front DOT turn signals. Other than the throttle cable, its nice to have the front end of this scoot all buttoned back up.

Never seen a stock replacement full circle crank before that's pretty nice hope it holds up for ya!! I am on the fence about using it. I really like the stock 1/2 circle crank style.(for lubrication reasons)

Well I was bored and did some more work. Peeking down inside the engine I really didn't like the looks of things. It just didn't sit right, for less than 100 original miles, the inside looked like crap. Well I am glad I did, its even worse inside. Other than the rust, I didn't the crank looked too bad tho. The was hardly any play on the big end bearing, but I did think the side play was a bit much(but they don't use thrust washers so thinking it might be sloppy for a reason) I was wondering if anyone has seen a "stroker" version built of the engine. Iv seen a crank online for a TGB ATV Hornet 90cc, 423017. They look very similar as the 50cc version. With the material available on the engine case housing(see previous pics) boring the cases would be possible. Who knows, my mind wanders. LOL

Full circle crank is a good feature as its not beating up the mixture flow like a blender which is what the stock crank does..Plenty of oiling slot in the full circle also..I checked on a price from Scrappy for a 90cc crank and it was over $300!!

Yes, lubrication is not an issue with a full circle crank. Blending action is usually an issue with four strokes where there is a sump of oil that shears or chops the oil thinner, but is not an issue in two strokes. The primary advantage of a full circle crank is to increase the primary compression ratio, which increases pressure and speed of the air flow during the transfer scavenge cycle. BTW, our JOG90 crank is advertised at $99.95 and not $300. www.scrappydogscooters.com/50cc_2stroke_Performance.html chinesescooterparts.com/product/jog90-crankshaft/
