Can you provide more details on how you attached the two crank wheels together?Press fit, shaft thickness,etc.. Thanks! John This photo sort of shows what I did. I took two stock Dio cranks and pressed them apart. In this picture is actually one "crank". I took the flywheel side of one and machined it down to the bearing journal essentially removing all the tapered section for the flywheel. I forget the diameter as this was done in October sometime. I then bored it. It is a press fit, 2-3 thou. I pressed the variator side into that Then it was assembled, timed and checked and the end was welded lightly to make sure it didn't come apart under speed. I had to weld it underwater as the first attempt wrecked the bearing due to localized heat. RD and Banshee guys weld their race crank pins together but they have a lot more material so they don't get as hot as quickly. It may fail catastrophically in which case i will be making my own center crank from scratch.

Thanks!I too did some 'shaft' work a few years back when adapting a YZ125 engine to a Minarelli CVT,thread here;.. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/7119/snoopy-dragscooter-build?page=1After reading a lot about press fit cranks,I chose to use the flywheel end of a YZ125 as it has the bigger bearing ID(25mm) and used a GY6-150 crank to rob the CVT shaft from, turned it down to 15mm.Cut the flywheel taper off and bored and reamed the crank wheel for a .0015" press fit..I'd like to continue with this theme except using an MX 80-85 case/cylinder..Problem is all the little MX motors use smaller bearings, thus my CVT shaft or main bearing interface would be much thinner..I worry about that to the point these splice projects are on hold till a better solution can be found..Can you shed some light on this subject perhaps??? Thanks, John

Mine was pretty thin, but I figured with the press fit of the bearing inner race, plus the meat of the journal, plus the solid shaft plus the press fit it would be more than robust. But i've done less than 1 kilometer on the thing so who knows. You should look up what RD400-350 and Yamaha banshee guys do, they press, then weld using a tig and no filler just enough to add extra bite to the press fit. I think that would be the be all end all and is similar to what I did. Failure is the first step to success and all that malarkey.

Well after chasing some air leaks, finding a brand new seal that shredded itself and disassembling and reassembling the engine and coating all faces in Yamabond 4. I now with 100% certainty have an airtight bottom end. While I was in there I permanently deleted the oil injector and made the bottom end volumes much closer to equal. I machined an aluminum sleeve, pressed it into the seal bore then filled the void with Devcon. I have also been struggling with the carbs; I bought junk, I expected junk. I have ClOKOnes on there, I re machined the bottom of the jet well and the jet well itself, bringing it up to a proper location, re drilled all the passages to the same size and have it absolutely barking off the pilots now. I found a set of 40s pilots at a local bike salvage and it seems ultra happy today is the day of re drilling some mains, get it running happy then order new stuff. I also made a stem and bar mount for my gauges and got some way light carbon bars. I am swapping over to a big single round because it looks a lot better, but the housing hasn't arrived yet. I wish I could go for a rip on it right now....

Hell ya love it! A twin cylinder in a super light scoot that is modded to be even lighter. Glorious madness!!

Man that thing is gonna have so much torque, your gonna have to make a 5 point harness just to stay attached to the bike, that's one hell of a scooter,I love seeing people make stuff from scratch what you've done with that aluminum block is just insaneππππ

Not to say what's being done in this thread isn't wicked cool, because it is for sure, but yeah...

It should be a hoot if I get it working right.
I'm currently struggling with a 7-8K missfire.
I start it up, runs great, smooth and crisp up to 7k. Throttle position seems to be irrelevant. 1/4 or allofit.
It hits a wall and RPM bounces around there for 2 seconds then the motor shuts off entirely.
I dropped to like a 65 Jet in there, same result
I put a 130 in there, same result.
Pull the main entirely, same
With that thinking I either think the carbs are simply too big (24) or it is not the carbs at all.
I think it's ignition breakup, possibly my dual pickup setup. Going to get some shielded wire tomorrow and try that. I also have some DC CDI's I may try as well.

Sounds like fuel starvation, not an air leak you said she's air tight, hope you figure it out,do you have to pick ups on one stator?Nevermind seen the picture better now on the pick up question

Sounds like ignition problems. Maybe even wiring?
