Before buying a new windscreen, have you researched into cutting several inches off the top of the windscreen (following the contour)?? It seems like you are at an unlucky head height where all the buffeting from the windscreen comes straight back to your helmet. If you lower the windscreen, the airflow will go over your shoulders instead.
Or, they do make those clear add-on attachments at the top of the windscreen, so the airflow will just pass over the top of your helmet (let me look for pics). It just seems like you are right at the transition height - sucks.
btw, it's good idea to wear ear plugs (cheap foam disposal ones) for any prolonged rides.

I took the backrest off (just 2 bolts under the seat). It's got 3 positions, but it was already all the way back. I would have left it off, but it's not a great option with what's left. Before buying a new windscreen, have you researched into cutting several inches off the top of the windscreen (following the contour)?? I have considered cutting the windshield, but I decided to try something equally as free first. I removed it. Filmed so I can do a delete vid later. Before pics. During... and I found the battery. After. I definitely dig the look without the clear shield in place. You can see that there's a little gap between the tinted fairing and the panel behind it, but it doesn't seem to wobble even just over 90MPH indicated. Now it feels like a lot of air hitting me in the chest, but it really isn't bad till 80+. I think it would be fatiguing if you went on a long fast highway stretch, but for me riding mostly 50-55MPH roads right now it should work. I don't like the stock windshield at all, so I may try to cut it at some point as I feel I have nothing to lose. I'm not riding it with wind hitting me directly in the visor the way it was. That's even more tiring. If all else fails, I may buy something different. There are some sport screens that are short and tinted all the way. They're 1 piece replacements for the tinted fairing and look much cooler than the part clear, part tinted. There are some that are painted black too. Some are styled. These things seem to go from $40 from Chine to over $300. I may be on board for a sub-$100 option one of these days in hopes of retaining better styling with functionality for faster riding. It has also just struck me that I rode home from the dealer, to and from the inspection, and then around a long country block to check after the windshield delete and I still have gas. It sounds silly, but it's quite nice to not visit a gas station every time you take a ride. EDIT : Oh, and a correction to a previous statement. I said my XXL helmet wouldn't fit under the seat. It will... even with a GoPro rig on the front of it. I just have to be smart enough to put it the right way.

Cool, full-face helmet fits no problem. Are you gonna use helmet lock if you need to go shopping and buy stuff or groceries?
Oh you found the battery. what a strange location. heh. Don't forget to install a quick-connect for a charger.

Here's a short clip from my windshield test ride. Cool, full-face helmet fits no problem. Are you gonna use helmet lock if you need to go shopping and buy stuff or groceries? I suppose. It comes with a cable and a spot to loop it, so that's easy enough too. Oh you found the battery. what a strange location. heh. Don't forget to install a quick-connect for a charger. It has one. Found that too. Should be replaced though. The end is screwed up so I'm not sure that it will actually connect.

Are you using the battery tender type charger? I've got spare ends I'll send you. I am, but I actually think I have one around. I've got 2 tenders and only one is hooked up with the cables so I'm sure it's around. Thank you though.

It's nice and quiet. I like that, sometimes stealthy is good. 😀

It's nice and quiet. I like that, sometimes stealthy is good. 😀 I'm not sure that I even like the exhausts on these big scoots. I like the looks and the weight savings, but in some clips they don't sound much different than small scooters. They don't have the wild sportbike idle that I enjoy and it's a constant tone. I do enjoy revving the 150 up at people, but just cruising I can't say I'm a huge fan other than the whole being heard argument. I don't think there's a lot of power there, from things I've read so far. On the other hand, some claim to go 5MPH faster... but being from the land of small scoots and big claims I'm not trusting of everyone's reports. On a related note, I was listening to exhaust clips and came across this. I must say, if you're this guy and seem to be ashamed that you are on a scooter and not shifting so much that you must emulate it every time you accelerate... maybe a motorcycle would have been a better idea. I personally don't care. Yeah, it's a scooter and I ain't shifting... and yeah, I'm having more fun than the people bothering to hate on a scooter.

That's a pretty sweet ride, and normally I don't have any interest in the maxi scoots. I can understand why you decided to go with this instead of a geared bike and it does make a lot of sense. I am glad that Yamaha made the TMAX to have more of a "sporting" bias as most of the other maxi scoots are really tailored to comfort and cruising and that is mainly the reason why I don't like most of them that much. Seems like the TMAX is a good balance of fun and comfort. Now I kinda want to ride one to see what it is like! Also sounds like they have a lot of cool tech in these bigger scoots. I agree though it does still sound like a smaller single cylinder scoot, an exhaust might be in order. I look forward to your updates on this thread. Brendan

I was just looking around at seats, curious if there were options without that backrest to stop me from moving back more on the seat. Didn't really find that. Found this though :
