I've wanted to redo acceleration runs with the stock o2 sensor back in, just in case anything changed. It took about a week to finally get a day that wasn't really windy. 5-7MPH winds yesterday, so I tried it out.
Average of 6 runs was 14.92 @ 85.79 with a best of 14.75 @ 86.7. A little better than the last runs, but very close. Can't tell a difference at all in riding with or without the o2. Best 0-60 I've had on it was 6.06 yesterday. I'm guessing with a lighter rider, you could see mid or maybe lower 14s and 5.X 0-60. I've seen that pro-testers claimed as low as 16.7 stock though, and I was doing 17.1X with light sliders and a ported head so I should have been a full second or more slower in the 1/4 than they were stock.

Nice vid! Really easy to watch, very clear and educational. Not too long, not too short. All the important stuff is covered and less important stuff fast-forwarded or briefly touched. Earlier vids about T2 I always skipped because I felt they were way too long-winded. Anyway. I really like the format of this one!

Nice vid! Really easy to watch, very clear and educational. Not too long, not too short. All the important stuff is covered and less important stuff fast-forwarded or briefly touched. Earlier vids about T2 I always skipped because I felt they were way too long-winded. Anyway. I really like the format of this one! First, thanks! I've been just filming these and not talking while doing the work. Then I write a script and go from there. It makes vids like these more concise because they're planned out vs having to go with whatever I spit out along the way. Speeds up the actual work, but then it takes me a lot longer to get them together. You could argue that one way is contrived and the other way shows you more of what I'm thinking along the way... so it's more of a real experience. I will do a video about the whole experience with mods recently. That will be much longer I'm sure. It's hard to document things in detail and do 5-15 minute videos. I leave stuff out, people want more detail. I include the details, the vids are long. Like the TMAX service series. That's a ton of video time... but my goal was to be what you wish the service manual was. Every detail. I at least include chapters in my vids so it's easy to skip if you are looking for something specific. I feel like a dinosaur in a world where every communication that I get from YouTube is telling me to use "shorts" (60 second or less vids) and TikTok is huge. I just have to remember that no one is going to the TikTok/shorts crowd when they actually want to learn something. I should have just done a "shorts" vid for the Lectron. Simple... "Shove it in the intake. Connect hoses and cables. Try all of the metering rods. Burn holes in pistons and your wallet. Cry yourself to sleep. Enjoy your new carb and thanks for watching!"

Would Lectron shorts be a Lect-ure?

I just put the TMAX mod results video up! I've been editing this one for 2 weeks, but I'm pretty happy with the result. youtu.be/GeztynFsCMU

Great video. Really sums up the difference in performance. For the price and performance increase. The variator is a no brainer. 👌

It was 70F here yesterday, but windy with rain/storms and we had a tornado nearby. Nonetheless, when there was a break in rain for a couple of hours I got out for a ride.
Winds were around 20MPH at the time, with gusts over 40. I had a gust surprise me once and push me across most of the lane. I tried to make the wind work for me on a top speed run. 103 with the wind at my back… so about 3MPH faster than ~no wind. Much quicker than stock, but no faster.
I’m definitely going to the swamps with a sport bike friend as soon as it’s warm enough for him. Been working at getting him out for at least a year now, but he’s finally serious about riding. He just doesn’t like to go out when it’s cold and he doesn’t feel like he can run his bike all out and he has less time to ride than me.
I picked him up in the car to go to Harbor Freight with me last weekend and he said his other friends slow down so much for turns. We go through a turn that I’d prob try around 80-90 and think I was rollin’ and he said see they’d prob slow down to 60 here and I’d wanna be going prob 120-130. I was like, “well, you’re gonna be bored with me too.” I love listening to a 600 scream so at least I’ll be entertained when he flies by.
It’s OK though. He said he changes tires about every other riding season with maybe 4000 miles on them. I’ve got 3000 on this scoot just since Dec in the winter months. I say mine’s faster average speed if you count all the time his is parked. 😁

Good tyres for a sports bike Are not cheap. Especially when I used to do a lot of freeway miles. They square off really bad. The newer sports touring tyres are so good now. Unless you do a lot of track days, they work out far cheaper. How many miles are you getting from a set of tyres on the Tmax?

How many miles are you getting from a set of tyres on the Tmax? I got 8,000 from the first 2 sets. Only 6,000 on this set and the rear is bald in the center. I'll do both, just because. All of them have been dual compound Michelin tires, though they change the name each time I order again. I think I've worn this rear tire out more quickly from riding faster. I guess it would need more acceleration traction now too, but we're talking maybe 45HP and 40TQ so I doubt that's much of a factor. I used to get around 40MPG average and now most of the time I'm in the 30s because I'm in the throttle so much. You'd think you'd be able to be easier on something modified to be quicker, but it just makes me want to ride harder.

My rear tire was well beyond wear indicators with a little over 6000 miles on it. The front was fine and probably OK for awhile, but I’ve always replaced tires as a set on this bike. The pic below was from a few rides ago. I went to order another pair of Michelins and there were some stock issues and the price has gone up. I saw 2 versions of the rear tire. One marked as tubeless and another not… but not marked tube. I could get the one with the unmarked part number, but not the tubeless specified. 160/60R15 is not exactly a popular size and I think the unmarked would be fine… but combined with the price hike, I decided to go with something else. Bridgestone Battlax dual compound tires were available and for more than $50 less. I went back and forth a bit because I always use Michelins on my scoots. Might as well try the Bridgestones though. Finally got those mounted yesterday after having them around for weeks. I’m supposed to ride with the sport bike friend today, so I definitely didn’t want to have a questionable rear tire. I fought the rear tire on. Ended up in the floor, wrapped around the tire with one foot on a tire iron, an arm on another and a third iron in my other hand. Had to keep my hip/butt on the tire to try to keep it in the center of the wheel for slack instead of on the bead. Probably looked like I was trying to hump the tire. I used zip ties on the front and that didn’t go too bad. Normally I’m the one telling people that tires aren’t awful if you have decent tools and technique, but I cursed that rear for a long time. I peeled off the red reflective wheel tape while I was at it. It was getting kinda worn out. Decided to try something different and paint the letters on these. I kinda like it. Just needs something that’s not plain black, and that does it. According to the front tire, I think the R actually stands for Rain. LOL So it’s 100% clear… I have no delusions that I can keep up with him in any way.

Had a good ride this afternoon. Went to the swamps for some curves with my friend. I think he was expecting me to be slower through turns. He said I’d smoke his friends with a Buell and a cruiser. Have to get them out there someday so I can get ‘em with the scoot. 😁 My friend had no trouble keeping up. Straightaways were funny. I’m leaned down WOT going deaf cause I didn’t wear earplugs and he’s behind me chillin in high gear listening to music on his helmet communication thingy. When we stopped for a bit, he asked how heavy the scoot was. I told him to hop on and check it out. He took it around the parking lot and said it feels weird being so straight up. He also was surprised at how loud the TMAX is when you’re on it. I got on his bike but opted out of riding it around. The last time I sat on one I was prob 15 years younger. I forgot how tiny and aggressive they feel. My knees are bent as much as they bend just to get my feet on the pegs and I can’t even fit my foot to shift with a size 13 work boot. He said maybe someday when I have sneakers on we can swap for a bit. Prob got no video because I snapped the mount on my helmet getting ready to ride and the replacement isn’t ground down to let the camera not look down. Hopefully more opportunities though. Both of us enjoyed it and now he wants to head out early some weekend and ride all day.

Once you get him comfortable on the max. Then get him to buy a two stroke. Ease him into it. 👍

I rode down to a different area of the swamps with the sport bike friend again today. Had a fun ride down. A buzzard got way too close for comfort, then I cam up on a wild turkey running down the road and made my friend brake hard enough to lock the rear. A couple of red winged blackbirds tried to get me. We stopped so I could change batteries and clean our visors. Then he points this out to me… Been on there a few days and 200-something miles. I rode back home, topping out around 75 and being much more conservative in turns. Felt bad having him follow me so slow or I wouldn’t ride that fast. It held air though. Just ordered a replacement and more Ride-On for $190. 😖
