It's always on a new tyre. Never one that's due for replacement. 😡

I must say, I’m pretty impressed with Ride-On tire sealant. At least I assume that’s the hero. I removed this 2” screw and didn’t hear any air. I thought the tire must have already deflated, but a couple of kicks said otherwise. I’ve got a hole in the tread and the sidewall. There’s no way. I put a gauge on it and I have 40.1 psi. I had 41 or 42 before riding over 24 hours ago. Not a chance in Hell that I’d ride it more, but I didn’t expect that. Whenever I get around to removing the tire, we’ll see if Ride-On is indeed coating both areas.

I got the tire off and I can’t tell where the screw was from the inside. I tried to push a scriber through there and I think the screw just went through the outer section and that’s why it didn’t lose pressure.
A little bit of luck in a really unlucky situation I suppose.

I wrestled a new rear tire on and took it to a swamp road to be sure I got the coating off of the whole tire. 😁

Please elaborate on the products and technique for painting the lettering on the tire. That looks very cool😎

Please elaborate on the products and technique for painting the lettering on the tire. That looks very cool😎 You can buy "tire markers" to do this. They're just paint markers AFAICT. I bought a 6 pack of white paint markers on amazon for not much more than 1 tire marker and it seems to work the same. Added bonus is that you can get a lot of colors of paint markers. The process is simple enough. With tires where the lettering is surrounded by a raised border, I find it very easy to fill in. Tires with plain raised lettering or recessed lettering require a little more care. They will require redoing at some point to keep them looking good. That's been with tire markers or paint markers for me. Can't really scrub them or clean them with anything harsh like actual whitewall tires. There are also tire stickers out there. No experience with those. Some look good from a distance, and you can put whatever you want on there... but I wonder if those hold up or how they look up close. Mildly related... Looking at the gold on the tire and no longer having any red accents has made me contemplate a Smokey And the Bandit inspired color scheme at some point. If I ever get the wheels powder coated (they really need something done) I could go with gold. Not crazy chrome-like gold, but like you see on the tire or like the Bandit Trans Am. Not sure if that's a good idea. Now, if I could find a fire chicken that wrapped around the front and looked like it fit... then I might be onto something. I don't know that I'd like just gold wheels. I'd need a large novelty cowboy hat that fit over my helmet and I'd be loaded up and truckin'.

After I came home from messing around in the swamps last night I saw that there was a motorcycle crash involving a deer in need of aviation on the road that I ride the most just after I was there. ☹ I go to the swamps so much because they're really the only twisty roads around and without a lot of traffic and the view is nice... but they're in/around wildlife reserves.

I’m pushing my S.O. To allow a motorcycle purchase. Every day on Facebook there’s a new motorcycle crash and her cousin just broke both arms and a leg. It’s hard to get over the hump.

It's tough on 2 wheels and really doesn't make any sense to face the risk TBH. Hard to explain it to someone that's not also addicted to it... and even hard to convince ourselves that it's a good idea sometimes.

Yes I have lost friends and an uncle I never met to the passion that is motorcycling. My wife even lost her father. It's hard to explain how you would willingly ride a bike through the cold wet and icy winter conditions. When you could be in a nice warm car. I have friends who tried it in the past, and just don't get it. Then gave up. But it's weird, I never get bored on a bike. Even a two of three hour journey. I don't think about anything but riding. With a bike you are part of the machine. Your positioning and input, on the bike really affect it's behaviour. You really need to concentrate on everything. When I had a car, you have to have music, and even short journeys were mind numbingly tedious.

I’ve wanted to take a look at the belt since the Malossi variator has been on here for a bit. Clearly it works a lot different, so I was concerned that wear may be accelerated. I’ve got 4219 miles on the belt that was replaced during the big service. 2965 of that was with the MultiVar. The new belt was 32mm wide. It’s now at 31.25 roughly. For comparison, the belt that I took off around 28000 miles was about 31.2. I measured it at 12000 and it was at 31.45. The service limit is 30.5, so if it continues at this rate a belt that should last 30,000+ miles will go about 8,000 miles. I’d call that accelerated wear. What I’m hoping is that basically being broken in twice (all stock and then with the Malossi) May have worn it considerably and it won’t continue to wear that way. I don’t know if I’ve ever tracked a belt that didn’t wear the most on the first rides. That may be optimistic thinking though, and I’m sure not gonna wait till the belt has 30k on it to check it again. Otherwise, everything looked OK. No major wear on sliders. The drive face had some markings, but no wear that could be felt. I cleaned the drive boss quickly and added a little more grease to a couple of spots. Now I just need to get it clean before Sunday for a car show. Not entering. Just can’t show up looking shabby.
