After John asked us if we would chip in it wasn't long and we were all in. It was a pleasure and privilege to be allowed to contribute to this cause. You have done the impossible with nothing for so long you deserve this to allow the impossible to dealt be no big deal. Thanks for all you have done for us and the cause

Wow, that was quick! It would have taken me days to figure out how all this Lathe stuff works. Well done!

To me it looked pretty well and professional. Looking forward to the day where you build your own silencers for AR-15s or sniper rifles. I remember your videos where you shaved down a variator with a file or shaving a OR torque driver with a grinder by putting it on the shaft and let the grinder spin it. With that new tool that is all in the past. I would love to see a video of a variator shaving on that Lathe.

I have a job for ya Brent. I need an 84 Spree head ground down for my ported BBK. I wanna use an 84-85 head to increase compression, wanna have it matched up to the BBK. You up for it?

Looking forward to the day where you build your own silencers for AR-15s or sniper rifles. I'd have to build one of those guns first (which I have no plans of doing... please no one put me on a watch list). lol

I don't really have any confidence with this thing yet. Could work out, could end in a ruined head. Might wanna let me get some time in on it. Potentially ruining my parts and potentially ruining someone else's are worlds apart to me.

Good job Brent Now that you have your lathe you can make the tools to make a better broach offsets... sounds like crank bits. And stuff... And this goes to the donors here. You realize brent now will be locked up in his machine shop making tools to make other tools to make god knows what else? He's gonna forget all about his scooters and turn this forum into 49ccmachinists.com - buncha jackwagons (Spoken with much comedy, but no really, that is sooooo cool what you guys did here)

wow! That was one of the most awesome gestures I've seen on a forum. You guys took generosity to the next level. Kudos! Can't wait to see what Brent makes with it. This should be fun

I have a couple different heads to play with, and they go for pretty cheap on eBay. So if ya totally fuck it up, doubt I'd cry too much.

Good job guys! Brent, you are progressing! I am glad making a tool was a first project. Later you will find out how to mill with a lathe to make precision parts without resorting to a hacksaw. There are all kinds of vids out there to explain how to use a lathe. Using the lathe to make more tools and parts for the lathe to expand it's capabilities is great fun. The Chinese machine tools are kind of a 'kit'. They take a little TLC and adjustments. There should be an adjustment for the tailstock lock lever. If the lathe maker did not provide a chip guard someone would sue for getting a chip in their eye. It is a CYA safety part like a lot of the 'safety gear' that gets in the way on tools nowadays. On the other hand some of the guards actually work! Speaking of safety gear. The guy in the square hole vid was wearing a long sleeve shirt rolled up and wearing gloves. Both of those things can get your arm torn off with a lathe or many machine tools.
