This is such a fun build to watch. There was a Gyro up for sale around here, but they were asking $$$$$$ for it.

Thanks, it's a fun build to work on for the most part too Just arranged a deal with a mate to have the seat custom skinned, knowing his standard of work it should look amazing! Need to try and save up some more $$ and get a few bits powder coated next week and am tempted to order a 220mm brake set up, my boy has discovered that the Dio caliper and rotor will be perfect for his go kart so is egging me on a bit lol.

Dropped the bars, front and rear racks and headlight loop in to be powder coated today, Aliexpress indicators arrived yesterday, ordered black but received chrome, quick paint will sort that. Got an email earlier that some bits arrived in the country this arvo and will be here in the morning, hopefully the levers from Aliexpress don't take tooo long! Need to strip the anodizing off the front wheel/forks and attempt to give them a polish, need a new front tyre too. i.imgur.com/AkaOAh1.jpg

Just had a delivery, thanks again tsimi!! That frame section is a million times better than what I had to work with! Kinda stuffed up though and ended up with a new battery mount strap piece and no battery seat, must have removed the wrong part number from my list! Other than the battery seat, my levers and switches I think I've got pretty much everything I need to start putting it back together now

It's so satisfying putting something back together with mostly fresh new parts.

It's so satisfying putting something back together with mostly fresh new parts. That's for sure, speaking of which I've started putting some of the new genuine parts together this arvo. First off I fitted the new knob and spring assembly to the new battery cover Then I moved onto the "air vent flap" assembly Took a bit of figuring to get the spring correct, but I think I've got there, even went as far as ordering a new Honda sticker lol And even though I didn't actually need it and ordered the wrong part, I fitted the new battery clamp, at least it's got soft fresh foam on it haha If you hadn't noticed I made my mind up on a paint colour...

Haven't done too much lately, still waiting on a few parts to be painted/powder coated or delivered. Did give my chrome $3 indicators a quick as squirt of black, nothing fancy but should do for now Had a pair of surprisingly decent alloy grips arrive, might use them, also an amazingly crap switch that I was going to use as a right switch with the Kitaco throttle. Flimsy plastic, nasty stitches, super light gauge wire etc, no thanks. Pretty much decided to use the Chinese scooter Jog style switches I posted a while back, my stock throttle cable will fit straight into them and the wiring should be easy enough. Other option is coughing up the $$ for these and a Jog cable to chop up m.aliexpress.com/item/32813609434.html?spm=a2g0n.store-products.0.0.6927fd1c1zK2LlOther thing I'm trying to decide on is what to do gauge wise, originally I was going to run a small tacho, speedo and a fuel gauge etc, but I'm not having much luck finding a nice little speedo that doesn't go to 180+K or nice fuel gauges. Kinda thinking I may end up just grabbing a dash like I've got on my Suzuki, thoughts?

Looks like the koso clone i was eyeballing. Heard both good and bad about it, but for the price its worth a shot at it. If you can find a seller who would replace a faulty unit, i'd jump on it.

It is indeed a Koso clone, I've been running the earlier 2 colour version on my Suzuki for ages with no issues at all really. Would love a trail tech vapour but $$$ and they don't have a fuel level gauge from what I can see.

Hey raizer! I am liking the Koso line and it's clone brothers. Two reasons: Easy to get here and cheap. The one you show was about 1700THB...$71 NZD. The issues we have seen are connections mostly. Big bikes have the proper wiring, but scoots must get some neuro-surgery.

I've got one coming from China now, NZ$49 shipped! My Suzuki's one was easy enough to wire in, once I made sense of the translated manual anyway lol I depin and remove all the wires for the gear selection and use the check engine light as a 2t oil level warning Time for a bit of an update I think. On Thursday I chucked the battery lid bracket and some very rusty bolts into white vinegar to soak for a few hours, then forgot about them for 4 days while we went out of town... Took my gold front wheel and this CVT cover along for the ride And had them vapour blasted by www.vapourblastingnz.co.nz which is run by a member of a car club I'm in. He worked his magic and well the results speak for themselves! While away I picked up a Pirelli SL26 90/90-10 to replace the old Dunlop and a couple uprated bulbs (with the wrong base for the Zoomer lights ) Today my levers arrived from Aliexpress and I also got my parts back from the powder coaters, I'm so happy I went with satin black, looks like the factory Honda finish! Of course the levers aren't going to work though. The painted Aliexpress indicators look the part to me though! Oh and remember the bolts I said I forgot? I didn't get any before pics, but they looked so rusty I would have thought they were trashed and the bracket was 2 tone bad black paint and rust. Well we got home early hours this AM and the Mrs complained the house stunk of vinegar and metal... oops After just a quick rinse under the tap I'm impressed! Now to try and find levers, again...

Man, those are great results! Only wish I had a sand blaster near my place. Guess I'll save me up some money and just buy a damn blasting booth.

I'm attempting to put together a soda blasting set up since my next door neighbour sells pool supplies and has said he will do me a good price on 10 and 20kg bags of soda.
But those parts there were vapour blasted, the media is a slurry of glass beads and water, the beads are so fine it's like a dust! The resulting finish is much nicer than you get from traditional sand or soda etc blasting, it seals the surface and maintains it's finish too. Very gentle too, notice the tyre and valve didn't get damaged, just super cleaned lol.
